Crowdfunding Campaign Launched to Save Boston Venue Great Scott
Last month, Boston music venue Great Scott announced it was closing due to disagreements with the landlord. Because it’s a local institution, the public reaction was huge, with people working on multiple petitions and fundraising efforts to benefit the staff. Now, a community investment campaign has been launched by Great Scott’s booking agent, Carl Lavin, to save the beloved venue. Earlier this week, Lavin announced he’s partnering with Mainvest — an investment crowdfunding platform focused on helping local businesses — to raise money to re-open Great Scott for good, reports Vanyaland. Now, Josh Homme has served up his own slice of quarantine-induced creativity by playing Queens of the Stone Age song “Villains of Circumstance” in his bathroom. In the clip below, Homme can be seen playing a small acoustic guitar in his bathroom at home in Los Angeles. Liam Gallagher and Mark Lanegan Are Fighting on Twitter About Something That Happened 24 Years Ago
Liam Gallagher is in a Twitter fight with someone not named Noel. As Stereogum point outs, the Oasis singer currently finds himself in a tiff with another famous alt-rock singer, Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan, and it’s over something that literally happened 24 years ago. In his new memoir, Sing Backwards And Weep, Lanegan reveals that Screaming Trees and Oasis were supposed to tour together in 1996, but that plan fell apart after Gallagher mocked the name of Lanegan’s band by calling them “Howling Branches”.
