Squid Announce 2022 Tour Dates

UK post punks Squid came out with a bang this year, with their debut LP Bright Green Field being named one of the best albums of 2021. Now, they’re ready to do a victory lap. Today the band announced a run of tour dates for 2022. Before Ollie Judge, Louis Borlase, Arthur Leadbetter, Laurie Nankivell, and Anton Pearson hit North America in March, they’ll play a run of UK shows in January. The band’s 13-date jaunt across the pond takes them from the Pacific Northwest to the East Coast, with stops in Canada in between. Then, they head back over to Europe in June to hit the festival circuit, before playing Primavera Sound’s inaugural Los Angeles festival in September. St. Vincent Shares “Pay Your Way in Pain (IDLES Remix)”: Stream

St. Vincent is back with a fresh take on “Pay Your Way in Pain.” Today, Annie Clark has shared a remix of the Daddy’s Home single, created by UK post-punk band IDLES. St. Vincent released Daddy’s Home, her sixth album, in May, and shared “Pay Your Way in Pain” as its first single. With glitchy synths and the artist’s typical slinky rhythm, the song introduced the record’s retro aesthetic with a certain charismatic darkness. In a statement for the remix, IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen said this juxtaposition is what he latched onto. “What I really enjoy about the Daddy’s Home album is using this camp energy in a really violent way,” he said. “This embracing of the nostalgic even the kitsch but using it to make progressive futuristic music. Modest Mouse Unveil 2022 Tour Dates

Good new for people who love bad news good music: Modest Mouse have announced a short run of 2022 tour dates. The alt-rock icons unveiled seven fresh dates for next April in support of their new album, The Golden Casket. They’ll launch the trek in Baltimore, Maryland on April 18th, and continue south into Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina (for High Water Festival), and Georgia, before wrapping up in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 28th. Besides that, the band has already committed to three summer festival appearances: Just Like Heaven, Lollapalooza Stockholm, and Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin have spent the past six nights celebrating Hanukkah by covering beloved songs made famous by Jewish artists. For the seventh night of the Festival of Lights, the Foo Fighters frontman and his longtime collaborator performed The Clash classic, “Train in Vain.” “Michael Geoffrey Jones, born to Russian Jewish mother Renee Zagansky, would come to be known as punk rock legend Mick Jones, co-founder of The Clash. Tom Morello Releases New Album, Including “I Have Seen the Way” Featuring Metallica and Rush Members: Stream

Tom Morello has released his second guest-heavy solo album of 2021, The Atlas Underground Flood. The LP is the sister piece to The Atlas Underground Fire, which the Rage Against the Machine guitarist dropped back in October. Morello again tapped a host of famous musical colleagues to contribute, including Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Rush’s Alex Lifeson, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ben Harper, and more. Hammett and Lifeson join Morello on the track “I Have Seen the Way,” which also features electronic artist Dr. Fresch. Band of Horses returned last month to announce Things Are Great, their first new album in five years.
