The Joy Formidable Announce US Tour, Share New Single “Interval”: Stream
There’s less than a month to go until The Joy Formidable release their new album Into the Blue on August 20th. To tide fans over until then, the Welsh alt-rockers have just dropped “Interval,” a gripping new single from the record, and they’ve also announced 2021 US tour dates. Whereas their last album, 2018’s AAARTH, dipped into electronic elements at times, The Joy Formidable return to their heady rock roots on this new single. “Interval” quickly grabs the reigns with a thick bassline before singer Rhiannon “Ritzy” Bryan’s vocals enter the frame. Shame Announce Remix EP Born in Luton & 2022 North American Tour Dates
Shame rang in 2021 with the release of their latest album, Drunk Tank Pink, and they’re not wasting any time now that touring is back in the cards. The group has unveiled a 2022 North American tour to complement their previously-announced UK and European treks. What’s more, the South London punks have announced a remix EP featuring reworkings of the Drunk Tank Pink track “Born in Luton.” The full Born in Luton EP is coming out July 23rd, and as a preview, the band has shared the version remixed by Parquet Courts’ Austin Brown. In a new interview with Consequence and Kyle Meredith With…, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament spoke about his desire to tour again as well as the obstacles that remain. He expressed discomfort with performing indoors, saying, “I just don’t know if I wanna go out and do 30 shows where you’re checking vaccination cards.” Ament was promoting his new album, I Should Be Outside, which is his second solo release of the pandemic. Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus Reveals Cancer Type: “My Blood’s Trying to Kill Me”
After a few months of undergoing treatment on the down-low, Mark Hoppus has revealed his exact type of cancer. The Blink-182 singer/bassist confirmed in a recent Twitch Q&A that he’s been diagnosed with 4-A diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, the same type of cancer his mother survived. In his words: “My blood’s trying to kill me.” Hoppus specified that he would soon be going in for a PET scan to determine the effects of his chemotherapy so far. “Ideally I go in tomorrow and they say, ‘Congratulations! Protomartyr Announce US Tour Dates with The Breeders’ Kelley Deal
Last year, Protomartyr was one of countless bands whose tour was cut short due to the pandemic. Now, they’re finally ready to get back on the road. Better yet, on their upcoming US tour they’ll be joined by none other than Kelley Deal of The Breeders on guitar. The 13-date trek will see Protomartyr performing live in the Midwest and East Coast. They kick things off on November 8th in Chicago with a two-night set at the Empty Bottle before they drive to Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and a few other cities. Back in March, Thom Yorke created a new remix of the Radiohead classic “Creep” to soundtrack fashion designer Jun Takahashi’s Undercover Fall 2021 fashion show Creep Very. Now, Yorke has officially released the full version of the song, and you can stream it ahead. As fans are well aware, Radiohead aren’t exactly fans of the Pablo Honey, often only playing it reluctantly as it’s “expected” at this point in their career. New music from Strand of Oaks is on the way. In Heaven, the upcoming album from Tim Showalter’s folk rock project, is out October 1st. As a preview, Showalter has shared the album’s breezy first single, “Galacticana,” as well as a slew of US tour dates for fall 2021. In Heaven marks the first Strand of Oaks album since Showalter’s recent relocation to Austin, Texas.
