Amy Winehouse Biopic Coming From Fifty Shades of Grey Director

It has been a long time coming, but an Amy Winehouse biopic is finally moving forward. According to Deadline, Back to Black will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, best known for directing the first film in the box office-busting Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. The script was penned by Matt Greenhalgh (The Look of Love, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool). Named after Winehouse’s classic 2006 sophomore album, Back to Black will chronicle the sudden rise and tragic downfall of the artist, who died in 2011 at the age of 27 after suffering from drug and alcohol abuse. Dua Lipa won the coveted British Album of the Year prize at the Brit Awards on Tuesday, in a ceremony that saw female artists dominate the mixed categories. Amy Winehouse’s Singles and Discography to Be Subject of New Box Sets

Amy Winehouse’s singles from the Frank, Back To Black and Lioness: Hidden Treasures albums will be released as 12×7: The Singles, a 7-inch singles box set on Nov. 20. Featured tracks from the collection include “Stronger Than Me,” “Rehab” and “Love Is A Losing Game,” all Ivor Novello Award winners in 2004, 2007 and 2008. The set also includes the Grammy Award-winning ‘”Body and Soul,” a duet with Tony Bennett. The singles will be housed in individual picture sleeves and pressed on black vinyl. The deluxe box also features a 20-page lyrics booklet and a set of art cards.
