Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring to Make Acting Debut in New Apple TV+ Series The Changeling

After winning us over back in 2014 with a musical guest appearance on The Late Show, Samuel T. Herring is coming back to the small screen — albeit under different circumstances. The Future Islands frontman will be making his acting debut in The Changeling, the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series, alongside LaKeith Stanfield. The Changeling is based on Victor LaValle’s bestselling book of the same name, adapted for TV by Kelly Marcel. Per Deadline, the series is billed as a “fairytale for grown-ups,” blending elements of fantasy, horror, and the real-life trials of parenthood. Carol Burnett Returning to TV Opposite Kristen Wiig in Mrs. American Pie

Carol Burnett hasn’t been a series regular since The Carol Burnett Show went off air in 1978, but that’s about to change with her starring role in the Apple TV+ comedy series Mrs. American Pie. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the legendary comedian will star as Norma, the grande dame of the Palm Beach high society in which Kristen Wiig’s Maxine Simmons is trying to get a seat at the table. Set in the early 1970s, the series is based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel of the same name. According to reports, the Luther actor will be the lead in a new thriller series entitled Hijack. The plot of the seven-part series features Elba as Sam, an in-demand business negotiator who finds his skills put into action as the plane that he’s on is hijacked en route to London. “[Sam] needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing,” says the synopsis of the series. Believe it or not, Harrison Ford is about to star in his first-ever recurring TV series role. The Indiana Jones icon will hit the small screen alongside Jason Segel in Shrinking, a forthcoming Apple TV+ comedy from a pair of Ted Lasso alums: co-creator Bill Lawrence and writer Brett Goldstein, who also stars as Roy Kent. Ford will play a down-to-earth therapist named Dr. Phil Rhodes, whose recent Parkinson’s diagnosis pushes him outside his comfort zone in terms of both his career and relationships. The MonsterVerse is expanding to the small screen. Fresh off the franchise’s 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong, Apple TV+ has ordered a live-action series centered on Godzilla and the Titans. Per Deadline, the as-yet-untitled series will be produced by Legendary Television and executive produced by Matt Fraction and showrunner Chris Black. As for its plot, the show offers a human twist on the monster saga, following the journey of a family living among the Titans. Throughout the series, they’ll uncover a buried family history linking them to the government agency Monarch. Based on Renee Knight’s 2015 novel of the same name, Disclaimer follows a successful documentary journalist named Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), whose work focuses on uncovering clandestine wrongdoings of long-respected institutions.
