Stop! Jane’s Addiction’s has reunited … for a brief set, anyway. Frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Stephen Perkins gathered together for a quick performance on a soundstage for Lollapalooza’s Lolla2020 livestream on Saturday (Aug. 1). The band was socially distanced for a two-song set on a brightly lit stage, kicking off with mellow “I Would for You” before launching into 1990’s high-energy hit “Stop!” off of their sophomore record, Ritual de lo Habitual. {“nid”:”9352532″,”type”:”post”,”title”:”Watch Perry Farrell, Max Weinberg & More Celebrate Passover in City Winery's 'Downtown Seder'”,”relati...

Live Nation has secured financial breathing room by securing favorable changes to its debt covenants ahead of its second-quarter earnings release on Aug. 5. Although covenants are standard requirements meant to protect the lender from a default, and manageable under normal circumstances, they can be impossible to achieve when a pandemic has crippled many types of businesses, especially live entertainment. The latest example of music companies shoring up debt and credit to weather COVID-19, Live Nation’s covenant revisions provide “additional financial flexibility,” CEO Michael Rapino said in a July 31 press release. That’s an understatement. The new covenants represent pandemic-era mathematical formulas that are critical for a company greatly affected by government safety measures. Music v...
Scooter Braun is coming to the defense of Ellen DeGeneres. Following published reports about an alleged toxic work environment at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the high-profile artist manager — whose clients Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have appeared as guests on the show — shared his support for DeGeneres on social media Friday (July 31). “People love to take shots. They love to see people fall. How quickly so many forget. How easy it is to stay quiet when it doesn’t effect them,” Braun tweeted. “@TheEllenShow is a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us. She has helped change the views for equality.” In early July, Buzzfeed published a widely circulated story featuring ...
Adele is loving Beyonce’s new visual album, Black Is King. The 32-year-old British songstress, who rarely shares photos of herself on social media, gave fans a double whammy on Instagram Saturday (Aug. 1), showing off her luscious quarantine locks while paying tribute to Bey’s Lion King-inspired release. “Thank you Queen for always making us all feel so loved through your art,” Adele captioned a spectacular photo of herself kneeling by a TV featuring Beyonce’s stunning “ALREADY” music video. In the pic, a smiling Adele is wearing a crescent moon-decorated long-sleeve shirt similar to the Marine Serre catsuit Beyonce and her dances don in the clip. On Friday, Bey once again made the world stop with the release of Black Is King on Disney+, an im...
Taylor Swift‘s “Betty,” one plucky part of what she’s affectionately coined Folklore‘s “Teenage Love Triangle,” ends with a cliffhanger. “If I just showed up at your party, would you have me? Would you want me? Would you tell me to go f— myself, or lead me to the garden?” the song’s protagonist, James, sings throughout the track — but the listener isn’t privy to Betty’s immediate answer. One Swift fan took the liberty to build upon Swift’s fantasy scene with a TikTok comedy series from the perspective of everyone else at that fated high school party, where a teen is fumbling through an apology. In some of TikTok user @kerrinotcarrieokay‘s videos, she’s Betty’s “stupid frie...
Soon after Zayn‘s return to Instagram, Gigi Hadid shared a personal snapshot of the couple smooching on her own account. “baby daddy,” she affectionately captioned an intimate Instagram selfie of the pair Friday night (July 31). The supermodel, who’s expecting her first child with Zayn, recently gave followers the first glimpse at her growing belly. “There’s my belly y’all,” she said on Instagram Live on July 15, pointing out that she doesn’t always look pregnant in the pictures she posts because “from the front it’s different.” “I really appreciate your positive messages,” she said at the time. “I’m just taking my time with sharing my pregnancy.” Hadid confirmed that she and the form...
Katy Perry dropped some hints about what fans can expect from her upcoming album, Smile, in a game of “Finish the Sentence” with The Sunday Times Style. As the name of the game implies, the singer answered a variety of questions from home by finishing sentences given to her. “I would describe my new album as hopeful, resilient, joyful and my own journey of coming through hell,” Perry said in the video, which was uploaded to YouTube on Friday (July 31). “The song of mine that best sums up my life right now would be probably either ‘Smile’ or the last track on my album, which is called ‘What Makes a Woman,’ because I am going through very, very feminine things right now,” the pregnant pop star added. A couple sentence prom...
More than three years after the highly publicized Fyre Festival famously fizzled out in the Bahamas, merchandise and other “minor assets” are up for sale — courtesy of the U.S. Marshals Service. In a release Thursday (July 30), the U.S. Marshals announced that 126 items from the festival will be auctioned off, with proceeds going toward the victims of Billy McFarland. McFarland acknowledged defrauding investors of $26 million in the 2017 Fyre Festival and over $100,000 in a fraudulent ticket-selling scheme after his arrest in the scam. He was sentenced to six years in prison in October 2018. Now 28, he’s serving his sentence at a low-security prison in Ohio, according to the Bureau of Prisons. “This Fyre Festival-branded clothing and other items that were seized from Billy McFarland were o...
