Entitled “Together For Beirut,” the stream is looking to raise $250,000 for those affected. Beatport and company have organized quite a stacked lineup for the first phase of “Together For Beirut,” including ANNA, Anane, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Dubfire, and many more. The decision to restore the category was made after gathering feedback from the hard techno community as well as prominent labels, artists, and distributors. To flesh out the genre’s page on Beatport, it will be populated with music from the site’s current “Techno (Raw/Deep/Hypnotic)” and “Techno (Peak Time/Driving/Hard)” categories. Over the weekend, fans plugged into the virtual festival Lost Horizon for a fully-interactive music event. Hosted by Beatport and the minds behind Glastonbury Festival‘s iconic “Shangri-La” experience, revelers were able to dance alongside their fellow festival-goers in full 360° using virtual reality technology. Fans were able to witness the performances using a VR headset, mobile device, or simply by watching the 2D livestream on Twitch.
