Here’s a closer look at the nominees. They’re listed in alphabetical order. Coi Leray: The rapper, 24, has two nominations. She’s also up for best female hip hop artist. This coming June, Los Angeles will play host to the anticipated awards program with a vaccinated-only live audience. Big Sean Heats Up ‘Body Language’ With Jhene Aiko & Ty Dolla $ign at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards
Big Sean brought some famous friends with him when he performed “Body Language” at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday (Oct. 27). Along for the ride were track collaborators Ty Dolla $ign and Jhene Aiko. Their steamy performance kicked off with Big Sean and Aiko watching TV on a set built to resemble a bedroom. Outside the “windows,” a massive forest fire burned, casting a red light on everything as the two sang. Later, as Ty Dolla $ign was singing in the fog, lightning flashed. Public Enemy joined forces with Nas, The Roots’ Questlove and Black Thought, YG, and Rapsody for a special performance of “Fight the Power” to kick off the 2020 BET Awards on Sunday night. There were first-time winners in several key categories at the 20th annual BET Awards. Lizzo was named best female R&B/pop artist. She beat Beyoncé, who had won 10 times in this category, including the last six years in a row. Megan Thee Stallion won best female hip-hop artist, beating two former winners in the category – Cardi B, who had won the last two years, and seven-time winner Nicki Minaj. According to Billboard, Drake has six nominations at this year’s iteration of the awards, while Megan and Roddy Ricch both have five nominations each.
