‘We’re a laughing stalk’: Many Celtic fans react to Chris Sutton’s latest Twitter post

Celtic are facing a quarantine crisis ahead of their Scottish Premiership match against Hibernian. As many as 13 players have been asked to self-isolate after Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has been tested positive for coronavirus. Julien, who travelled with the Celtic squad for their trip to Dubai, has tested positive for Covid-19 on the squad’s return. To carry on during the pandemic, football needs humility and self-awareness. Read this several times and can’t find an ounce. https://t.co/SNb9redhQl — Jonathan Northcroft (@JNorthcroft) January 11, 2021 The Celtic defender has been told to isolate. ‘I was a disgrace’: Celtic player has made bold admission, makes Rangers title claim

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has suggested that it would be a ‘big ask’ of them to catch Rangers at the moment.  However, he feels there’s a lot of football left to be played this season, and that they can ‘claw it back bit by bit’ and challenge the Ibrox club for the title. Rangers have been outstanding this season, and have now won 15 league games in a row. The Gers now have moved 22 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but Griffiths feels that they can reduce the gap. “Hopefully history repeats itself. We were in a difficult place last year but we came back and blew everyone away,” said Griffiths to Daily Record. “It’s a big ask with the sizable lead Rangers have. “But there’s no doubt in my mind we can claw it back bit by bit. There’s a lot of foo...

Report: Celtic open talks to sign 23-yr-old as a replacement for injured star

Celtic are in talks with Leicester City to sign centre-back Filip Benkovic. The 23-year-old was on loan at Cardiff City earlier this season but he failed to establish himself as a regular starter at the Championship club. The Croatian has now returned to the Premier League club but he is unlikely to get any first-team opportunities during the second half of the season. The likes of Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana and Caglar Soyuncu are all ahead of him in the pecking order and Benkovic needs a loan move in order to play regularly. According to Sky Sports, Celtic want to sign the defender on a loan deal with an option to buy. The Scottish champions have lost Christopher Jullien to a long term knee injury and they want the Benkovic as his replacement now. Benkovic played for Celtic in 2018 when B...

Atletico Madrid decide on Lyon striker as Diego Costa replacement

Atletico Madrid have decided to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as their replacement for Diego Costa, report Deportes Cuatro. Costa terminated his contract at Atleti at the end of last month so the club have been compiling data on his potential replacement with his wages now freed up in the squad. Striker Luis Suarez is now the main frontman at the club but with Alvaro Morata having also left over summer, there is a dearth of attacking options in the squad. French striker Dembele had netted an impressive 44 goals across his first full two seasons at Lyon – whom he joined from Celtic in 2018 – but has struggled this campaign, netting just once in 16 Ligue 1 appearances, of which just six have been from the start. It is now said by the report that Atleti are hopeful of taking advantage of t...

‘Certainly a possibility’ – Manager hints 23-yr-old could be on his way to Celtic

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has dropped a hint that Filip Benkovic could return to Celtic this season. He said (via Daily Record): “It’s certainly a possibility. It’s a huge club and he did very well there. We haven’t had any contact but he’s back now and we will see what happens. “Celtic would be a great move for him. He’s at the age where he really needs to be playing and that didn’t quite materialise at Cardiff. “I would never blame another manager for not playing someone because circumstances can change all the time but unfortunately it didn’t work out. “It’s quite simple really, it’s now a case of finding somewhere where he can go next and get some game time.” The 23-year-old was on loan at the Scottish club in 2018 but his time there was plagued with injuries. The Cro...

Report confirms Celtic have made an approach for attacker who will cost €8m

Celtic are thought to be interested in signing the Stade de Reims forward Nathanaël Mbuku. The 18-year-old has made an impressive start to the season with Stade de Reims and his performances have caught the attention of Lille, Parma and Celtic. The youngster can play on both flanks as well as a striker. According to Footmercato, Reims would demand a fee of around €8 million to sell the 18-year-old forward and it will be interesting to see if Celtic can agree on a deal with the French outfit. Opinion: Arsenal and Leicester City should avoid misfiring Hoops forward

The news that Odsonne Edouard has switched to a new agent is a clear sign that he is preparing to leave Celtic this summer. The Hoops striker has penned a deal with London-based Stellar Group – the same firm that represents former teammate Kieran Tierney. The 22-year-old’s current contract runs until June 2022 and he has shown no interest in extending his stay at Parkhead. According to Sky Sports, Edouard plans to remain with the Scottish Premiership club until the end of the season before moving elsewhere. SL View – Odsonne Edouard Edouard has scored 72 goals in 151 appearances for Celtic since joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018. However, his performances this season have largely been lacklustre, with the forward appearing like he would rather be elsewhere. Edouard has had ...

Report: Celtic keen on 21-yr-old, club director comments on transfer interest

Celtic are interested in signing MLS defender Mark McKenzie this month and the club’s sporting director Ernst Tanner has now given his reaction on the reported interest from Scotland. The 21-year-old was a target for Celtic during the summer transfer window, but the Scottish champions decided to sign Shane Duffy on a loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion instead. Sky Sports believe that the Scottish Premiership side have been monitoring the defender’s situation for some time now and he is high up on their list of targets this month. There is no doubt that Celtic could use some defensive quality this month and it will be interesting to see if they decide to submit an offer for the 21-year-old centre-back. Celtic have conceded 15 goals in 19 League games so far and they will have to impr...

Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon questions Celtic’s Dubai trip

Agence France-Presse Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has questioned Celtic’s decision to jet off for a mid-season training camp in Dubai as the country struggles with tough coronavirus restrictions. The Premiership club insisted on Monday that they had received Scottish government approval for the trip. However, Sturgeon indicated the go-ahead was given in November, before tougher Covid-19 measures were put in place. “The rules have been — and they may need to change given the changing nature of the pandemic — that elite sports can go overseas for training camps if that’s important in the context of their training for competitions,” Sturgeon said at a media briefing on Tuesday. “I’ve seen a comment from the club that said it’s more for R (rest) and R (relaxation) than it is for tra...

Report: Celtic want midfielder Rodgers described as ‘real talent’ as Barca plot Jan move

According to The Sun, Celtic are keeping tabs on the situation of Leicester City midfielder Sidnei Tavares as he enters the last six months of his contract. The 19-year-old is also on the radars of the likes of Juventus, Porto and Bayern Munich, while Marseille manager Andre Villas Boas attempted to snap him up last January. However, it’s Spanish giants Barcelona that are looking more than ready to make a move for Tavares during the January transfer window. The La Liga heavyweights are hoping that Leicester will be keen to cash in on him in order to prevent losing him for nothing at the end of the season. However, should the Foxes hold on to the Portugal youth international beyond the January transfer window, Barca have a gentleman’s agreement with the club to be Tavares’ first choice dest...
