From infighting to drugs, Fleetwood Mac have long been a notoriously messy band, but looking back, singer-keyboardist Christine McVie doesn’t seem to regret any of it. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the artist even proclaimed that she thought her drugs of choice, cocaine and champagne, made her perform better. “I have to say I’m not guilt-free in that department but Stevie and I were very careful,” McVie said, when asked if she had any “blanks” in her memory from years of partying. “The boys used to get provided with cocaine in Heineken bottle tops onstage, but Stevie and I only did the tiny little spoons. Tenacious D Cover The Who for Gun Safety Benefit Single: Stream
The greatest band in the world is paying tribute to another pretty good one, and it’s all for a good cause. Jack Black and Kyle Gass have released “Tenacious D’s The Who Medley,” a new mashup of Who classics that will benefit Everytown for Gun Safety. “Tenacious D’s The Who Medley” combines The Who’s “Pinball Wizard,” “There’s A Doctor,” and “Go To The Mirror!” into a unique single of its own. In addition to hitting streaming platforms, the medley will be pressed on a 7-inch vinyl — the proceeds of which will go to the gun violence prevention organization. Celebrating David Bowie 2022 Tribute Tour to Feature Todd Rundgren, Adrian Belew, and More
Todd Rundgren, King Crimson’s Adrian Belew, and several other musicians are taking David Bowie’s music on the road for the 2022 “Celebrating David Bowie” tour. The 15-date trek kicks off in October. The follow-up to 2018’s inaugural “Celebrating David Bowie” tour this iteration also features Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, Spacehog’s Royston Langdon and Jeffrey Gaines, bassist Angeline Saris, drummer Michael Urbano, saxophonist Ron Dziubla, and guitarist Angelo Bundini (otherwise known as Scrote). Together, the musicians will perform cuts from the late artist’s illustrious catalog in cities like Anaheim, Atlanta, Nashville, and Denver. R.I.P. Jim Seals, Co-Founder of “Summer Breeze” Duo Seals and Crofts Dead at 80
Jim Seals, who as the primary vocalist of Seals and Crofts helped pioneer the summery soft rock sound that came to define easy listening in the 1970s, has died at the age of 80. As Variety reports, his passing was confirmed by multiple people including his cousin, musician Brady Seals. “I just learned that James ‘Jimmy’ Seals has passed,” he said. “My heart just breaks for his wife Ruby and their children. Please keep them in your prayers. What an incredible legacy he leaves behind.” No cause of death has been made public. Born in 1942 near his hometown of Iraan, Texas, Seals’ began his musical training around the age of six, when his father ordered him a fiddle from the Sears catalog. As they shared in an interview with Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, the track will be released this September. According to Taylor, it’s “a little gem from Freddie that we’d kind of forgotten about.” He added that it’s a “real discovery. It’s from The Miracle sessions.” The Miracle came out in 1989, buoyed by beloved single “I Want It All.” It was the 13th and penultimate studio set before Mercury’s death in 1991. Alec John Such, the original bassist of Bon Jovi, has died at the age of 70. “We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such,” the band posted in a statement to social media on Sunday, June 5th. “He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band. To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him — He was a childhood friend of Tico [Torres] and brought Richie [Sambora] to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today these special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We will miss him dearly.” A cause of death was not immediately disclosed. Eddie Munson, the breakout character on the new fourth season of Stranger Things, keeps getting more metal by the day. Now, it turns out that the Dio back patch on his denim jacket was actually gifted to the popular Netfilx series by the estate of the late legendary metal singer Ronnie James Dio. We’ve already heard from actor Joe Quinn, who said in a recent interview that he “listened to a lot of heavy metal” to prepare for the role of Munson. Now, the show’s costume designer, Amy Parris, and Dio’s widow, Wendy Dio, have revealed that Eddie’s jacket back patch was created from a vintage t-shirt delivered by Wendy to the show’s costume department. Eddie Van Halen died in October 2020, after a long bout with cancer. The immediate cause of his passing was listed as cerebrovascular accident, which is the medical term for a stroke. In light of the horrific mass shooting at a Uvalde, Texas elementary school, Stevie Nicks has spoken out in favor of stricter gun control.
