The ECOWAS Court will be resuming its activities on Oct. 7, after its three months vacation. This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the media office of the justices. The court will deliver judgment in nine cases filed against eight some member states. It added that the cases were also filed against Nigeria’s Cross River State and the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and listed in the latest course list released by the Registry of the Court for the period Sept. 25 to Oct. 28. The Federal High Court in Abuja has approved service through substituted means in the suit seeking an order disqualifying Osagie Ize-Iyamu as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming September 19, 2020, Edo State. The order for substituted means was issued by Justice Taiwo on August 18, 2020, but newsmen saw the certified true copy of the enrolled order on Thursday. The Magistrate, Mrs Folake Ogundele, sentenced Ayokanmi after he pleaded guilty to a charge of impersonation. Ogundele sentenced the convict without an option of fine. A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Abdullahi Haladu, at Goron Dutse Correctional Centre for allegedly raping 7-year-old girl. The defendant, who lives at Unguwar Mahauta Gani Village, Kano, is facing a one-count charge of rape, contrary to Section 283 of the penal code. The Prosecutor, ASP Badamasi Gawuna, told the court that Isa Uba of the same address reported the case at Sumaila Police Division, Kano, on June 29. He alleged that on the same date at about 8p.m, the defendant deceived and lured the child into his room situated at Unguwar Mahauta and raped her.
