Dead & Company want to make sure the only dead people on their 2021 tour are on stage. John Mayer and the surviving members of the Grateful Dead have announced strict new COVID-19 guidelines, requiring ticket holders to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of entry. That 48-hour window is tighter than the 72 hours allowed by other live events such as Lollapalooza or Bonnaroo. And the rules get even more restrictive for the General Admission Pit. Only vaccinated fans can partake in this part of the show, and those with just a negative test will be relocated to a non-Pit area. Since children under the age of 12 aren’t cleared for vaccination, that means that those younger kids will also not be allowed in the Pit. “Requiring vaccinations&nb...
Do you remember when COVID-19 went from being a scary infection to a worldwide pandemic? In the eyes of most Americans, it was right around when Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson both tested positive, meaning not even science-believing celebrities with all the money in the world could escape it. Thankfully US citizens can now get the vaccine for free to prevent serious illness from coronavirus. Yet that hasn’t stopped Chet Hanks, their infamous son, from making anti-vaxxer comments online despite his parents’ deadly health scare just last year. As Complex points out, the 31-year-old posted a video on Instagram pretending to use his influence — for some reason, Chet Hanks has more than half a million followers — to promote getting the COVID-19 vaccine. He then interrupted himself to say it was a jo...
Jason Isbell has a way with words, as he demonstrated on his 2020 album Reunions, and which he proved again on a new appearance on MSNBC. In conversation with Stephanie Ruhle, he explained his decision to require proof of vaccination at his concerts, saying, “If you’re dead, you don’t have any freedoms at all.” The quip came as part of a larger conversation about the resurgent threat of COVID-19 sparked by the delta variant. The singer-songwriter said he hadn’t received much pushback: “All the response I’ve gotten from people in the business has been positive, because they understand that we could go back to not working at all. And a lot of these smaller venues, they aren’t going to be able to reopen if they go through another round of shutdowns.” As he explained it, most venues ...
Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the band to cancel and postpone a number of upcoming tour dates. “Rickey is home resting and responding well to treatment,” the veteran rock band said in a brief statement following the news. Medlocke and his bandmates were slated to headline the Pro Football Hall of Fame concert alongside Brad Paisley in Canton, Ohio’s Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Monday night, but have withdrawn from the show. Instead, Jimmie Allen — who was originally set to open the concert — has extended his set to cover Lynyrd Skynyrd’s canceled performance. HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bloomberg / Getty Oh y’all thought employers were playing with their new vaccination policies in the workplace? CNN surely wasn’t and now a few of their former employees are looking for a new gig. The New York Times is reporting that Donald Trump’s “favorite” media network fired three employees for showing up to work without having been vaccinated and potentially exposing their peers to The Rona while being there. While it seems a bit harsh on it’s surface, CNN did inform their employees that vaccinations would be required for anyone returning to work at the office, but instead of requiring vaccine cards to enter the building, CNN went off an honor system in hopes that people would keep it 100 when returning to work. Three did not and were apparently oute...
