While French citizens have been subject to steep fines and a strict curfew since the March 2020 onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the underground electronic music scene has largely disregarded these regulations—with varying success. But as of January 1st, 2021, law enforcement has decided enough is enough, reportedly pushing up nighttime curfews in 15 of the country’s 101 administrative departments from 8PM to 6PM. The move is a direct retaliation to a series of illegal New Year’s Eve raves, the largest of which drew nearly 2,500 attendees across two abandoned warehouses in Brittany, a northwestern region of the country. Many had traveled across France and even from abroad for the event. According to France24, more than 1,200 of them were “booked” for of...

Dawn Wells, the actress best known for her role as Mary Ann Summers on Gilligan’s Island, has died at the age of 82. She succumbed to complications related to COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 30th, her publicist announced. Born in 1938 in Reno, Nevada, Wells spent her early childhood defying typical beauty standards. Although she was overweight, suffered from severe acne, and had braces throughout middle school, Wells was embraced by her peers and often viewed as popular, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Turns out that charm followed her into adulthood. Wells was crowned Miss Nevada in 1959 and even competed in the 1960 Miss America beauty pageant — the same year she graduated from the University of Washington. Initially, Wells’ early acting career was defined by smaller roles on TV shows like W...

Vybe Together, an app promoting clandestine parties during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been removed from Apple’s App Store. After marketing primarily to young professionals on TikTok, the social media giant also banned the app. Using the slogan “Get your rebel on. Get your party on,” the platform invited users to organize and RSVP to illicit, unsafe parties that defy current COVID-19 restrictions instated by the US government. Since its removal from the App Store, Vybe Together has scrubbed most of its digital presence. Its website is no longer active, but an archival version offers a glimpse into how the app operates. After users apply by submitting their Instagram handle and photos, they are approved by the app’s moderators “if the host finds you in...
A 45-year-old nurse in California tested positive for COVID-19 more than a week after receiving Pfizer Inc’s coronavirus vaccine, an ABC News affiliate reported on Tuesday. Matthew W., a nurse at two different local hospitals, said in a Facebook post on December 18 that he had received the Pfizer vaccine, telling the ABC News affiliate that his arm was sore for a day but that he had suffered no other side-effects. Six days later on Christmas Eve, he became sick after working a shift in the COVID-19 unit, the report added. He got the chills and later came down with muscle aches and fatigue. He went to a drive-up hospital testing site and tested positive for COVID-19 the day after Christmas, the report said. Christian Ramers, an infectious disease specialist with Family Health Centers of San...
Dave Grohl has shared a “huge, heartfelt” statement hailing the recent passing of the Save Our Stages Act. As part of the bipartisan COVID-19 relief bill, the act will allocate $15 billion dollars in federal aid for independent music venues and theatres that have been forced to close during the pandemic. The Foo Fighters frontman has been a fervent champion of the bill, which was first introduced by Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota back in July. In October, Foo Fighters headlined the virtual #SOSFEST, an event hosted by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) to raise money for concert spaces and rally for Save Our Stages to be included in all future iterations of the COVID-19 relief package. Thankfully, it happened on December 20th. “A huge, heartfelt...
The FCT Administration has told shop owners to choose between complying with COVID-19 guidelines or having their business premises shut as part of measures to contain the pandemic. Head, Media and Public Enlightenment of the FCT Ministerial Enforcement Task team on COVID-19 Regulations, Ikharo Attah, issued the warning while monitoring the level of compliance in some shopping malls and business premises across the city. He said the administration will “not hesitate to shut down shopping malls, Maitama farmers’ market and business premises in the city that fail to comply with the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines. “From what we observed, there is high compliance by costumers and visitors to these malls and business premises, sadly, same cannot be said of the workers and operators of shops a...
On December 25th, Ted Nugent referenced the name of Jesus Christ while channeling the cruelty of the Romans. He trashed the coronavirus vaccine, called the lockdowns “not a real pandemic,” drew a hard line between Democrats and genuine “American families,” mocked the Vice President-elect as a “Ho ho ho,” invoked about a bajillion racist tropes, and slandered George Floyd — all as part of one of the worst Christmas blessings in history. The mudslide of hatred came during a Facebook Live video on Christmas Day. The rocker and conservative blowhard began with his impression of The Cowardly Lion singing Christmas carols, before introducing his son, Rocko Winchester Nugent. For a while, they talked about their bowel movements — Rocko’s “vegan love shit,” as well the 72-year-old musician’s most ...
The Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, said that 35 commercial motorists had their vehicles impounded on Monday in Lagos for not installing speed limit devices in them. Ogungbemide made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen after the corps sensitized motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on the need to install “speed governors” in their vehicles. He said the operation was in line with the directive of the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, who had noticed an increase in the number of fatalities during the festive period. “We are not going to release those vehicles even after the payment of fines by their owners until they install speed limit devices in them,” he said. Ogungbemide urged motorists to be more careful on ...
Source: JEFF KOWALSKY / Getty Lil Pump is only re-affirming his allegiance to Donald Trump and the MAGA cult. The struggle rapper has been reportedly banned from JetBlue airlines for refusing to wear a mask. To be clear, wearing a mask should be political. It’s about doing your due diligence to at least aid in trying to stop the spread of COVID-19, which has killed millions, during a global pandemic. Nevertheless, the “Gucci Gang” rapper, who Donald Trump couldn’t even get his name right, didn’t want to be bothered. According to TMZ, JetBlue says it has banned the rapper from its flights because he refused to wear a mask while on board. Reportedly, Pump became “verbally abusive” with crew members during a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 26). Allegedly, Pump too...
