Lai Mohammed: My only regret as minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said his only regret as a minister is that some Nigerians have failed to appreciate that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is doing so much with little resources. Mr Mohammed stated this at a Special Forum of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja. He said with dwindling resources, no government in the history of Nigeria has implemented programmes alleviating poverty among women and vulnerable groups as well as created jobs for the youth as the Buhari administration had done. The minister said his regret was that some Nigerians have failed to appreciate the efforts of the government but keep celebrating negative developments. “My regret in this government is that Nigerians have failed to appreciate that the ...

Aspyr is the Video Game Publisher Bringing New Life to Your Favorite Old Star Wars Games

If you’re looking to replay some of your favorite old Star Wars video games on modern consoles, PCs, and even smartphones, you may want to check out what the folks at Aspyr (pronounced like “aspire,” for the curious) are up to. After initially finding success porting PC games to Mac in the 2000s, the Austin-based Aspyr changed directions over the last handful of years, publishing titles like Layers of Fear and Observer. But recently, the studio has seen a bit of a surge in popularity by republishing some of the finest Star Wars titles of the 2000s for a modern audience. What began as the two Jedi Knight games coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch soon included the classic Episode I: Racer. But perhaps Aspyr’s most noteworthy addition is their surprisingly smooth recent ado...

Jeris Johnson, awfultune, and More Headline Two Holiday-Shortened Weeks of SPIN’s Untitled Twitch Stream

Normally, it’s right about now when we’d tell you what to expect next week on SPIN’s Untitled Twitch Stream. But seeing as next Friday is Christmas (and no one wants to spend their Christmas reading a Twitch schedule), we’re providing you with the next two weeks all in one place. The next week figures to be equally busy, as the good folks at Quadio will be hosting a showcase of their favorite artists on Monday, awfultune ...

Oscar-, Grammy- and Emmy-Winning Composer Michael Giacchino Returns to Medal of Honor Roots for Above and Beyond

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond isn’t just another first-person shooter set in World War II. The latest title from Respawn Entertainment not only pushes modern virtual reality technology to its limits in a way that most games wouldn’t dare to touch, but it’s also much more grounded in reality than something like Call of Duty often portrays. Rather than ignoring history in favor of flashier fight sequences and bigger spectacles, the first Medal of Honor game since 2012 is based entirely on real people and events — even to the point of including more than 90 minutes of interviews with veterans as a documentary-like extra feature. The game spared no expense in bringing out the somber realities of war along and making a borderline educational experience in addition to a thrilling shooter. To ...

Cyberpunk 2077’s Futuristic Score Isn’t Your Grandfather’s Dystopia

CD Projekt RED is in a bit of a unique situation when it comes to this week’s release of Cyberpunk 2077. On one hand, the game is sure to top sales charts, will be loved by millions of fans and is likely to be a critical favorite. On the other, it seems like even an absolutely flawless game wouldn’t be able to live up to the unprecedented amount of hype built behind the title since its initial announcement in 2012. The futuristic RPG’s great expectations are certainly deserved considering that CDPR’s last major project was The Witcher 3, which not only earned numerous awards (and considered as one of the best video games of all time) but also received a second boost in popularity due to the success of last year’s Netflix series. Years before its release, Cyberpunk 2077 was already a multi-...

Post-EndSARS: Stop scaring police off their beats – minister

The Federal Government on Friday called on Nigerians to empathise with and appreciate personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies instead of victimising them. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who made the call while meeting with Title Editors of Nigerian newspapers in Lagos, also urged the public to resist the temptation to tag all officers with the same brush. “Today, many of them are even afraid to wear their uniforms and the result has not been pleasant, in terms of security of life and property. “I want to remind all of us of the saying that a society that makes war against its police had better learnt to make friends with its criminals,” he said. The minister recalled that six soldiers and 37 policemen were killed across the country d...
