The Hill broke the news of the shocking exchange after a reporter witnessed the incident first hand on Monday (July 20). Representative Ted Yoho, Republican of Florida, was angered by AOC’s remarks from a July 9 virtual town hall where she stated the recent spike in crime stems from “economic desperation” caused by the coronavirus pandemic and not from lack of support for police.
