Man Found Dead In Lake Following Illicit Rave In Italy

An illegal rave that attracted nearly 8,000 attendees on a private swath of farmland in Italy this past weekend led to the tragic death of a British man.  Gianluca Santiago, 24, reportedly dove into the Lake Mezzano at roughly 7:30PM. It wasn’t long until friends realized he had never resurfaced, leading them to call the authorities. According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Santiago was likely looking for a brief escape from the scorching temperatures that day. The area was ultimately searched by police, leading to the discovery of his body 60 meters from the shore. There is no currently no word on whether or not Santiago had drugs or alcohol in his system. Legendary Detroit DJ and electronic music producer K-Hand has died at the age of 56. According to Detroit Metro Times, K-Hand, whose real name was Kelli Hand, is hailed as being “the first woman to release an electronic music record before techno grew into an international fascination.” In summer 2017 Hand was officially dubbed “the First Lady of Detroit” by City Council for her pioneering contributions to techno and house music, as well as her “skills within a male-dominated industry.” She was awarded the city’s Testimonial Resolution, a biographical certificate that lists the accomplishments of a person or organization. The rock community is mourning the passing of ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill, who died in his sleep at age 72. Hill was an indispensable longtime member of the “Tres Hombres” and famously sported a lengthy beard like his bandmate Billy Gibbons. Musically, Hill had a gift for rhythm, holding down the band’s airtight bluesy rock tunes with drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top had just kicked off a massive U.S. tour when Hill was sidelined with a “hip issue.” Longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis filled in on bass for a handful of dates, and today it was announced that Hill passed away in his sleep at his home in Houston. Former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has died at the age of 46. According to a statement issued by his family, Jordison “passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021.” A cause of death was not immediately disclosed. “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow,” his family’s statement reads. “To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.” Advertisement Jordison was a founding member of Slipknot and played in the band until his departure in December 2013. Mike Howe, lead singer of the veteran band Metal Church, has died at the age of 55. No cause of death has been reported, but the band announced his passing via Facebook on Monday evening (July 26th). “It is with our deepest regrets that we must announce the passing of our brother, our friend and true legend of heavy metal music. Mike Howe passed away this morning at his home in Eureka, California,” reads the band’s statement. “We are devastated and at a loss for words. DJ and Live Nation Executive Identified as Victim in Miami Condominium Collapse

Tragedy struck in Miami on June 24th when the Surfside condominium building collapsed, leading to a death toll of 97 people. Among the victims were DJ-turned-Live Nation executive Theresa Velásquez, along with her parents Julio and Angela. Performing under the name DJ Theresa, Velásquez was a DJ and label owner of Audio4Play, and also worked for major brands such as SFX Entertainment and Sony Music before moving onto Live Nation at the age of 36. Velásquez became a Senior Vice President at Live Nation’s Los Angeles office, where she advocated for inclusivity for the industry’s LBGTQ+ artists and women. Faster Horses Festival Ends In Tragedy After 3 Attendees Found Dead From Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Faster Horses Festival in Lenawee County, Michigan ended in tragedy for four attendees over the weekend.  First responders were called to the scene of the three-day music and camping festival by a concerned friend of one man in his early twenties. After arriving, the emergency responders entered the man’s camping trailer, which was being shared amongst a group of five attendees, all of whom were unconscious.  Three of the attendees were pronounced dead at the scene and the remaining two were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Juini Booth, who plied his bass with some of the grandest figures in jazz history, has died at 73. Over his six decade career, Booth was a member of Sun Ra Arkestra and accompanied such legends as Art Blakey, Pharoah Sanders, Chick Corea, McCoy Tyner, and Coleman Hawkins. He passed away July 11th, according to Buffalo News, after a six-week decline in health preceded by breaking his hip in a fall at home. The United States is still reviewing a request for troops made by Haiti’s interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph to help secure key infrastructure after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said on Monday. Psaki said Haiti’s political leadership remains unclear and that it was vital for the country’s leaders to come together to chart a united path forward.
