These Spring Jeans Are Selling Out Fast at Zara, Monki and Free People

1. Before they were even released online, both myself and Joy Montgomery, Who What Wear’s shopping editor, decided that we needed to get Monki’s squiggly-print monochrome jeans and matching knitted crop top (pictured above). Neither of us would normally wear printed jeans (in fact, I very rarely wear denim at all), and both of us often buy vintage instead of new high-street items, but here we were, poised to snap them up. Sadly for us, within minutes of coming online earlier this week, they had sold out in every size from a UK 4 up to a 20. A similar floral-stamped style at Zara sold out within mere moments this week, and it also came with a matching crop top. A coincidence? I think not. Co-ords continue to be popular and have become even more present&n...

I’m Obsessed With Double Denim—Here’s How I’m Wearing it This Year

As someone who has always chosen heeled boots over sneakers and crew-neck knits over hoodies, double denim hasn’t historically been part of my wardrobe repertoire. Like all good millennials, I dabbled with the pairing back in my teenage years, but that is firmly where it has remained—a relic of bad fashion choices past. But something has shifted over the last year: I’ve found myself double-tapping a growing number of double-denim outfits on Instagram. I’ve been drawn in by their Parisian-inspired nonchalance and low-maintenance appeal. Yet, these are not the skintight ensembles of yore, but an altogether a more grown-up and polished breed. Less Justin and Britney circa 2001, more off-duty It girl. I have consequently spent the last week or two in a boo...

This High-Street Brand Has Created the Perfect Pair of Straight-Leg Jeans

No, finding the perfect pair of straight-leg jeans is not exactly breaking news, but the fact that I have discovered that & Other Stories‘ Keeper Jeans tick all my boxes feels like a small win, and honestly, I’ll take all the wins I can get right now. As I have discovered, purchasing straight-leg denim seems to be that little bit harder than shopping for, say, skinny jeans or “mom” jeans. Why? Well, the definition of “straight” seems to be loosely interpreted across the market, with some inching towards a wide leg and others being more akin to a slim fit. Maybe it’s just my fanaticism when it comes to fashion, but there really is a fine balance to be found when it comes to de...

The Unlikely Denim Microtrend Huge Designers Are Revisiting

Patchwork denim will always have a nostalgic charm to me. The splicing of fabrics and intentional scruffiness makes it feel like a project I’d have taken on in week five of summer holidays after watching one too many episodes of That ’70s Show. However, this humble denim trend has, against all odds, been slowly making its way into luxury collections. In 2020, Celine brought us the patchwork button-front miniskirt, Gucci created an epic blazer pieced together with numerous swatches and, most recently, Victoria Beckham has brought us two-tone flared jeans. All patchwork denim tends to have a ’70s sensibility, playing with silhouettes such as flares and wide-leg jumpsuits, which were all popular in that decade. Thanks to the DIY element, this is a tr...

I’m Picky, But These High-Street Jeans Have Seriously Impressed Me

As I wait for my own pair of Favourite jeans to arrive, I have a few initial observations to talk you through. This goes out to all mainstream brands: I’d love to see more size options when it comes to denim (and everything else, of course). Jeans from & Other Stories start at 24 and end at 32. Per the size guide, the 32 should fit someone between a UK 16 or 18. However, in my experience, owing to my curvy frame, I almost always have to size up. And I know many women are the same.  As for the aesthetic of & Other Stories’ jeans, honestly, I think they’re currently unrivalled. They look the authentic-vintage part, which is very difficult to achieve, and I know the cuts won’t date in a hurry (unlike those heavily frayed hems we all invested in in 2016). I...

Call Off the Search: I’ve Found Three Perfect Pairs of High-Street Jeans

Why is shopping for jeans so hard? I mean seriously, I’m a shopping editor and I still end up tearing my hair out when trying to decipher the minuscule differences between straight, slim and regular-fit jeans. But as always, seems to be the case with these things, you spend months hunting down the perfect pair then three come along at once. I haven’t ordered much over the last six months, however, on a whim, I decided to order a few straight-leg styles from ASOS, hoping that out of three pairs at least one would turn out to be a winner. One was from Topshop, one from a brand called Reclaimed Vintage and one from & Other Stories, and you know what? They’re all fab. I have a dilemma on my hands—which one do I choose? From Topshop’s longline high-wai...

12 Styling Ideas That Will Give Your Jeans a New Lease of Life

Ahh, jeans, where would we be without them? And while they might not always be the most exciting thing to wear, they do open up countless sartorial possibilities. Fellow denim devotees will tell you that jeans have the potential to unlock countless excellent outfits, and you need only look to Instagram for proof. From Lauren-Nicole’s sleek take on the Canadian tuxedo to Ada Oguntodu’s penchant for retro flares to the way to Felicia Akerstrom wears ecru jeans, you’re going to look at your denim drawer in a totally new light after seeing these n...

6 Celebrity Jeans Outfits I’ve Really Loved This Year

Celebrity outfit pictures might be few and far between in 2021, however when we do see stars they are now more likely to be wearing a pair of jeans. Whether you’re looking for some new ways to wear your favourite pair or are planning on returning to jeans after a winter spent in leggings, below you’ll find several outfits that don’t require a Hollywood budget. 3 Ways We’re All Wearing Jeans in 2021

There was no escaping the ‘90s in 2020, and that’s set to carry on into 2021, with a big focus on straight-leg styles. Karolina Ekman, collection manager for & Other Stories, said that the straight cut continues to be a favourite: “We love the timeless appeal of this iconic garment, and our core jeans collection of five new cuts celebrates that.” But it’s not just the high street which is celebrating this trend in the upcoming collections. Heajun Park, womenswear design director, EMEA, for 7 For All Mankind, said similar: “For 2021, we believe that straight fits will be our strongest performers, so we’ve focused our attention on the Alexa and Modern Straight and expanded our selection of colours and washes.  You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for D...
