Drake’s New Album ‘Honestly Nevermind’ Drops At Midnight, Soft Rap Twitter In Shambles

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Cole Burston / Getty Apparently, Drake couldn’t let Beyonce get all the glory today. Apparently, the 6 God is also dropping a new album, but his will be landing at midnight tonight for a Friday, June 17 release. The Toronto rapper took to his Instagram to reveal the title, Honestly Nevermind, and the release date along with the album artwork. By Drake standards, the cover, some blinged out lettering, is kind of no frills. Drake’s last album, Certified Lover Boy, was released less than a year ago (9 months to be exact, coincidence?) in September 2021. Also worth noting, OVO Fest is making its return this year. Twitter is already saluting, or hating on, The Boy, so, the usual. This story is developing.  1. Coincidence?

Drake to Release New Album Honestly Nevermind Tonight

The day began with Beyoncé revealing that she’ll be releasing new music in July and the day will conclude (or the next one beginning depending on your point of view) with Drake‘s seventh album finally arriving. In an Instagram post on Thursday afternoon, the Canadian superstar announced that Honestly Nevermind will arrive tonight at midnight. As you can see below, there’s little else revealed (or known) about what’s to come on Honestly Nevermind. But hey, isn’t that part of the fun with Champagne Papi? We leave that up to you to decide. Last September, Drake released Certified Lover Boy after a bit of a delay. On that album, he worked with frequent collaborators 40, Nineteen85, PartyNextDoor, OZ, and Vinylz. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. There were a slew of other g...

10 Chart-Toppers That Sample or Pull From Past No. 1s

“First Class,” the second single from Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow’s album Come Home The Kids Miss You, is one of the biggest songs of 2022 so far, reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 twice since its April release. One reason for the quick ascent: the familiarity of the chorus, which samples Fergie’s vocals from “Glamorous,” which also topped the Hot 100 back in 2007. Since Billboard began publishing the Hot 100 in 1958, nine songs have topped the chart more than once by different artists, like Little Eva’s 1962 original “The Loco-Motion” and Grand Funk Railroad’s 1974 cover. But as hip-hop began to take over the charts in the 1990s, sampling old hits has become the most notable method of reviving pop’s past. And in recent years, interpolations with replayed elements of old hits have kicked up a ...
