Nigerian governors to meet with President Buhari to address security challenges

Governors of the thirty six states under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF have resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to address the security challenges with continued cases of armed banditry, terrorism and kidnapping across the country. The governors are meeting with President Buhari especially to discuss last week’s gruesome beheading of about 43 Farmers in Zarbamari near Maiduguri, Borno State by Boko Haram Insurgents while they were working in their farmland without any form of resistance. Nigeria records 180 new virus infections

Nigeria recorded 180 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the total number of infections in the nation to 63,508. Meanwhile, no death was recorded from the disease in the last 24 hours, meaning that the fatality stays at 1, 155. This is according to the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Thursday night. Of the 63,508 cases, 59,748 have been discharged across the country and the Federal Capital Territory. A total of 673,183 tests have been carried out across Nigeria. Police arraign ex-lawmaker, ex-governor’s aide, three others for ‘arson’

File Photo A former House of Assembly member, Dayo Akinleye; Afolabi Ariyo, a former aide of Ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, and three others, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for the criminal act of deliberately setting property ablaze during the #EndSars protest in the state Others also arraigned were, James David, Ajimoko Busola and Oyin Filani. The Police Prosecutor, Mr Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendants committed the Offence on Oct. 20 at Ado-Ekiti. Two minors and four other suspects were paraded on Monday by police in Ekiti State in connection with arson attacks on three police stations in the State. Suspected hoodlums had last week attacked two Divisional Police Stations and the Area Command office in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Ekiti Local Government Area in the wake of the #EndSARS protests. The suspects include Odeyemi Sina (12), Ayomide Akomolafe (13), Alao Emmanuel, Ojuko Tobi, Sunday Salihu and Kosedake Olamilekan. Nigerian security forces are struggling to contain increasing cases of looting on government-run warehouses across the country, in the latest incident of unrest following widespread, youth-led protests against police brutality. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has nullified the purported suspension of Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State by the party’s state chapter. Mr Yekini Nabena, APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja, while reacting to the development. “The attention of the APC national secretariat has been drawn to a purported and widely reported suspension of Gov.
