Sia and David Guetta Reteam for New Single “Let’s Love”: Stream

David Guetta and Sia are no strangers to a powerhouse electronic pop collaboration. After a string of chart-topping hits like “Flames”, “She Wolf (Falling to Pieces”, and the ubiquitous “Titanium”, the pair are back together for a 2020 anthem called “Let’s Love”. With a slapping ’80s beat that’s a few electronic note removed from Sing Street, the uplifting track is meant as a counterweight to the negativity that’s overwhelmed this year. “This too shall pass/ We’ll get through it all together,” Sia reassures on the hook. “I love producing club tracks but at the same time, especially now, I feel like creating ‘feel-good’ music,” Guetta said in a press statement. “‘Let’s Love’ is a message of love, hope and bringing people together and once again, Sia has out done herself on the vocals.” Orig...

The Avalanches have announced their first new album in four years, We Will Always Love You. The group shared the cover art by Jonathan Zawada and promised more details “soon.” The plunderphonic pioneers have been teasing the follow-up to 2016’s Wildflowers since last September. In a since-deleted Instagram post, the group shared a picture of the Voyager Golden Record, along with the news that LP3 was already getting mixed. Since then they’ve launched a small galaxy of space-themed singles, and now we know why. A.G. Cook Shares New Song “Xxoplex”: Stream

A. G. Cook, photo by Alaska Reid With his forthcoming album Apple about to drop, A. G. Cook has shared the new single “Xxoplex”. The founder of PC Music has also announced the “Appleville” livestream on September 12th featuring Charli XCX, 100 Gecs, Clairo, Kero Kero Bonito, and more. This is only the latest dish coming out of Cook’s kitchen. In addition to his work as Charli XCX’s bandleader, executive producing her wonderful new album How I’m Feeling Now, Cook just put out the 49-song 7G collection last month. “Xxoplex” is the sound of a man who won’t slow down, and perhaps can’t — it’s a compulsively catchy melody, distilled down to its glitchy, bleeping essence. In a statement, Cook referred to “Xxoplex” as the “dark, industrial heart” of Apple. He ca...

Bring Me the Horizon Unveil New Song “Obey” Featuring Yungblud: Stream

Bring Me the Horizon have unleashed a new song, “Obey”, featuring frontman Oli Sykes trading verses with UK singer Yungblud. The track is the latest single from BMTH’s forthcoming series of Posthuman EPs. The new song once again demonstrates Bring Me the Horizon’s recent propensity for melding various genres, although there is a return to the heaviness of the band’s earlier work. Sykes offers up some metal screams over thick riffs, with electronic and industrial elements throughout. A music video for the track depicts Sykes facing off with Yungblood as they each control a throwback giant robot in their own likenesses. The clip ends with an unexpected twist that we won’t give away. According to a press release, “‘Obey’ is a soaring ode about how, as a society, oppression has been so normali...

Hundred Waters’ Trayer Tryon Shares “cul de sac” Featuring Jónsi and Moses Sumney: Stream

It’s from Tyron’s upcoming album new forever, and features such well-loved collaborators as Jónsi and Alex Somers, Moses Sumney, Julianna Barwick, and even Nicole Miglis, vocalist of Hundred Waters. While his day gig with the Waters is informed by pop sensibilities, Tryon’s new solo efforts have been more abstract. That has somewhat to do with the way it was written; he composed “cul de sac” and the rest of new forever in bits and pieces while on the go. The whole project came about at the end of a six-year relationship.  In a statement, he said he, “lived through a half-year mania, worked one-off oddjobs, fell feverishly in love, went without a home, hopped ar...

Disclosure Share New Song “Douha (Mali Mali)” Featuring Fatoumata Diawara: Stream

The electronic duo Disclosure have shared a new song called “Douha (Mali Mali)” that features vocals from the Mali musician Fatoumata Diawara. It’s the latest offering from their forthcoming album, ENERGY, following last month’s “My High” — a collaboration with rappers slowthai and Aminé — and the title track they shared in May. The Lawrence brothers previously worked with Diawara on their Grammy-nominated 2018 single “Ultimatum”, and their chemistry continues here. After performing with cover bands throughout the ’80s, she eventually joined soul group Fifth of Heaven and began turning heads. A.K. Paul Shares New Song “Be Honest”: Stream

A.K. Paul by A.K. Paul Back in May, A.K. Paul quietly dropped his first song in four years, a groovy bop called “HUNGRY BEAT” made during quarantine. Today, he’s back with another new one called “Be Honest”. The track is a mechanical alt-R&B tune that sets the English artist’s warm-blooded croon over watery, refracting synths that almost recall the busyness of vaporwave. It’s exactly the sort of left-of-center pop that we’ve come to expect from Paul and his equally elusive brother, Jai — and apparently we can expect more new material from the siblings soon. In a statement paired with “Be Honest”, A.K. Paul announced that he and Jai are relaunching their enigmatic label, the Paul Institute, and have a whole slew of new releases slated for the coming months. “I’m really happy we’re relea...

John Vanderslice Shares New Song “Lure Mice Condemn Erase”: Stream

John Vanderslice has been a crucial part of indie rock for the past few decades now, but it looks like now he’s more infatuated with electronic artists than anything else. At least that’s what appears to be the case with “Lure Mice Condemn Erase”, a new single he’s released today. After years of helping define the sounds of artists like Death Cab For Cutie and Sleater-Kinney, Vanderslice has been challenging himself to create electronic music on his computer while quarantined, reports BrooklynVegan. The process has been rather fruitful. In addition to this new song, Vanderslice is planning on releasing an EP called Eeeeeeeep. It marks his first time recording entirely on a computer. Apparently, that experience came with a big learning curve. “What blew me away was how terrible my first sta...
