Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week

Alan Shearer has given his best XI from the latest round of Premier League fixtures. Rather unsurprisingly, Manchester City and Arsenal are both heavily represented, having pulled off dominant victories over Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion respectively. Southampton feature three times overall following their shock triumph against Liverpool, while Manchester United also own two players in the team. 👔 Hasenhuttl🧤 De Gea👕 Bailly👕 Stones👕 Stephens👕 Saka👕 Smith Rowe👕 Gundogan👕 Tierney 👕 De Bruyne👕 Kane👕 Ings Agree with @alanshearer‘s MW17 #PL picks? pic.twitter.com/LWFUD8J64Z — Premier League (@premierleague) January 5, 2021 David De Gea – After a dip in performances over the last two yea...

Report: Leeds ‘likely destination’ for £14k-per-week defender

Chelsea are likely to send Fikayo Tomori out on loan, and Leeds could be the ‘likely destination’ for him, according to reports from BBC Sport. Tomori – who is on £14k-per-week wages at Chelsea – made 22 appearances for the Blues last season. He has struggled for regular game time in 2020-21 and has managed only three games in all competitions so far, including a substitute appearance in the Premier League. The 22-year-old defender was heavily linked with a move to Everton this summer, but Chelsea prevented him from joining the Toffees on loan. Tomori has now dropped down the pecking order at the club following the arrival of Thiago Silva, and his situation is unlikely to improve even if Frank Lampard offloads fringe player like Antonio Rudiger. He is highly-rated by the club, an...

Report: Celtic want midfielder Rodgers described as ‘real talent’ as Barca plot Jan move

According to The Sun, Celtic are keeping tabs on the situation of Leicester City midfielder Sidnei Tavares as he enters the last six months of his contract. The 19-year-old is also on the radars of the likes of Juventus, Porto and Bayern Munich, while Marseille manager Andre Villas Boas attempted to snap him up last January. However, it’s Spanish giants Barcelona that are looking more than ready to make a move for Tavares during the January transfer window. The La Liga heavyweights are hoping that Leicester will be keen to cash in on him in order to prevent losing him for nothing at the end of the season. However, should the Foxes hold on to the Portugal youth international beyond the January transfer window, Barca have a gentleman’s agreement with the club to be Tavares’ first choice dest...

‘Bullets fired’: Gary Lineker reacts as Liverpool man makes Man Utd claim

Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool were denied a clear penalty as the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat against Southampton at St Mary’s on Monday night. Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings scored the only goal of the match inside the opening two minutes, as the Reds’ Premier League title defence suffered a massive setback. There were two instances in the game that Liverpool felt the decision didn’t go in their favour. First, Georginio Wijnaldum had a shot blocked by the hand of Jack Stephens, and secondly, Sadio Mane went down under a challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters. Klopp felt that the handball was a clear penalty while the German was also unhappy with the treatment Mane received from the referee, Andre Marriner. Although the Reds boss suggested that he is not looking for excuses, he couldn’t help b...

He has scored nine goals in 16 games in all competitions for the French side, sending out strong messages to the Everton boss. Report: Liverpool looking to cope with injury crisis by signing 21-yr-old this month

The 21-year-old defender has been likened to Virgil van Dijk because of his commanding playing style and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool move for the defender this month. According to reports via independent, Liverpool are looking to sign a defender for a n...

Arsenal in 2020: Was it Really THAT Bad?

As is customary with Arsenal, things have been highly entertaining and a complete mess. And, in 2020, they’ve managed to outdo themselves, completing the last 12 months with an unprecedented level of nonsense. But has it been all that bad? Best Player – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Aubameyang has suffered a drop off this season Sure, he may not have been at the top of his game since the beginning of the new season, but there’s no doubt who Arsenal’s talisman was at the end of the last campaign. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came within one goal of winning a second successive Premier League Golden Boot, falling short of Jamie Vardy. In addition, his FA Cup final brace secured his first piece of silverware in North London. We imagine it won’t be too long until the former Borussia Dortmund man is ba...
