GG Magree is stepping into 2022 pulling no punches, arriving on Monstercat with a stunning new single called “My Wicked.” Enveloped by angelic vocals and anthemic sound design, “My Wicked” is a natural showcase of Magree’s arsenal as a triple threat singer, music producer and songwriter. True to the times, the melancholic track blends pop-punk and future bass to aching effect. Cover art of GG Magree’s single, “My Wicked.” c/o Monstercat “In a state of confusion as to why I was addicted to the pleasure and pain of love, I wrote ‘My Wicked,'” Magree shared in a press statement. “They say love will tear us apart but also, all you need is love. We all have demons, but it’s about picking which demo...
After attending high school in the early 2010s, it’s tough not to feel sentimental about Said The Sky‘s new album and the definitive new direction in his sophomore album. While it was easy to be excited about Sentiment based on its singles alone, two of which arrived immediately prior to the album’s full release, some of the album’s most surprising—and nostalgic—cuts come with the full release. Between appearances by We The Kings, Parachute, The Maine, State Champs and more, the tracklist of Sentiment oftentimes more closely resembles a Warped Tour lineup than anything else. In fact, we’re still wondering how Said The Sky managed to pull a very rare feature from Motion City Soundtrack on the wittingly self-deprecating “Blue Etern...
Sun-kissed beaches aren’t typically the setting for neck-snapping dubstep, but not in this headbanger’s paradise. The inaugural Paradise Blue festival invites the world’s best bass music artists to the stunning beaches of Cancún, a city frequented more so by romantic honeymooners than head-banging ravers. But if there’s anyone to take dubstep where it’s never been before, it’s Excision, the festival’s proprietor and one of its headliners. Excision and his team have now released the set times for Paradise Blue, which will feature three stages. The Onyx producer will perform three different DJ sets throughout the destination event, scheduled for April 29th to May 1st. Joining him for the oceanfront fest are Virtual Riot, Zomboy, SVDDEN...
Ahead of the release of his upcoming record, Back For Everything, Kodak Black has shared a new single “I Wish,” along with an accompanying music video. NBA YoungBoy has shared a new single entitled “I Hate YoungBoy.” The song seemingly responded to Lil Durk’s “AHHH HA.” Durk’s song debuted less than 24 hours prior and comes off of his forthcoming album 7200, which recently had its release delayed until March. On “I Hate YoungBoy,” the 22-year-old rapper unleashes aggressive bars over a fast-paced beat. YoungBoy makes reference to his adversaries and says that he needs a “long vacation” and “guitars to sing and play when I’m down.” Just earlier this week, YoungBoy delivered another new song, “Opposite.” Debuting on Monday, the rapper used the track’s description on YouTube to ask fans if he should drop Realer 2, the follow-up to the 2018 mixtape of the same name. As an artist, I never actually thought about my gender that much. I just got on with it. I was as good as the men and I just went out there and matched them every time. But now, thinking about being a woman in my thirties and the future, I suddenly feel this tearing of my identity and my desires. That to be a performer, but also to want a family might not be as simple for me as it is for my male counterparts. I had modeled myself almost exclusively on male performers, and for the first time I felt a wall come down between me and my idols as I have to make decisions they did not.
