Source: Prince Williams / Getty Now that Takeoff has been laid to rest (R.I.P), the question about who gets his fortune has been opened and already, his parent’s are locking horns over who gets his $26 million bag and music catalogue. MadameNoire is reporting that Takeoff’s mother, Titania Davenport-Treet, and his father, Kenneth M. Ball, are battling over who gets control of his estate as the rapper died without having leaving behind a will. According to Georgia law, the closest living relative would be first in line to get the assets left behind by someone who dies without leaving behind a will. In this case it would be Takeoff’s parents, who haven’t been on the best of terms for quite some time. Though Takeoff has previously stated that he was mainly raised by hi...

The Tory Lanez & Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Trial Is Underway

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz Two years after allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion’s foot, Tory Lanez is finally going to trial over the 2020 incident as court proceedings are officially underway. According to BBC, a jury was told that not only did Tory Lanez shoot at Megan Thee Stallion‘s feet as they drove away from Kylie Jenner’s pool party in July of 2020, but he told her “dance b*tch” as he let off five rounds in the luxury vehicle. The shooting apparently took place after the “WAP” rapper insulted Lanez’s rap skills and demanded he pull over so she could get out of the car. Apparently the “LUV” artist didn’t take too kindly to the criticism and request and chose violence instead (literally). Related Stories Megan – real name Megan Pete – left a ...

The 30-year-old began his service on Tuesday at a front-line boot camp located in Yeoncheon, South Korea, where he’ll undergo training for five weeks before being assigned to a military unit elsewhere in the country. As the oldest member of BTS, Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, is the first to enlist. BTS is expected to reconvene in 2025 when all seven members have c...

Watch RÜFÜS DU SOL Take On Nirvana Classic for First “Like A Version” Cover In Eight Years

Channeling the influences of the legendary Kurt Cobain is a tall task, but RÜFÜS DU SOL took it head-on for “Like A Version.” triple j’s long-running cover series recently invited the Grammy-winning trio back for the first time since 2014, when they mashed up Foals’ “My Number” and “Booka Shade’s “Charlotte.” This time around, they took Nirvana’s 1991 classic “Something in the Way” in for a spin alongside a string quartet—and they nailed it. The original track appeared on the fabled rock band’s second studio album, Nevermind, a record etched in the memories of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s James Hunt. “In my childhood, this band was everywhere,” Hunt, the band’s drummer, told triple J. “[Neve...

Concert Venues Are Still Closing After the Pandemic — My Local Club Just Shut Down

DENVER — Tennyson’s Tap was the kind of music club where, on packed nights, the lone frazzled employee serving drinks, running sound and manning the door might ask one of the bands to help out and collect the $5 cover charge. I know because I sang in one of those bands, Smaldone Faces, and our bassist Luke and I pretty much let everyone in for free. The Tap, at 4335 W. 38th St. in Denver, specialized in whiskey and scruffy musicians of every conceivable genre — my two bands that played there did country, punk and metal covers, and we opened for screamo indie-rockers, jazzy improvisationalists and dreadlocked funk-and-reggae combos. The bar smelled like cigarettes and beer, and had a capacity of about 90, but when we drew our crowds of 20 or 30 people, it roared like Springsteen at the Roxy...
