Crosby, Stills & Nash Want Their Music Removed From Spotify in Support of Neil Young

David Crosby and Stephen Stills are joining their former bandmates Graham Nash and Neil Young in requesting the removal of their music from Spotify. “We support Neil and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify’s Joe Rogan podcast,” the members of Crosby, Stills & Nash said in a statement. “While we always value alternate points of view, knowingly spreading disinformation during this global pandemic has deadly consequences. Until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don’t want our music—or the music we made together—to be on the same platform.” According to a press release, Crosby and Stills are seeking the removal of their respective solo cata...

‘The View’ Obstructed: Whoopi Goldberg Apologizes For Saying The “Holocaust Isn’t About Race”

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jenny Anderson / Getty The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg has always been pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to making an argument that really makes use of thorough critical thinking skills. It’s like—on one hand she was always good for a blunt-yet-intellectual read when telling former co-host Meghan McCain to ST-entire-FU, but she also used to defend Bill Cosby like she was expecting a Huxtable-signed recommendation letter to Hilman.  Recently on her show, Goldberg was having one of her “Nah, sis’, you really should have kept that one” moments when she spoke loud and wrong about the Holocaust during a discussion about the Tennessee school board’s ban of the book Maus. “Let’s be truthful about it because [the] Holocaust isn’t about race,” Goldberg said&...

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Sun Sentinel / Getty The NFL was hit with a gut punch on the first day of Black History Month after it was slapped with a lawsuit by former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores that is pretty much calling the “Rooney Rule” a glorified bandaid. Brian Flores shocked the world on Tuesday (Feb.1) when he not only announced his lawsuit calling out the league for blatant racism in the head coach hiring process and provided a stunning receipt. Flores shared a text message he received from New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick congratulating the wrong Brian for landing the Giants head coaching job. Belichick’s text message was received on Jan.24, two days before Flores was supposed to be interviewed for the job. A confused Flores can be seen in t...

Metropolitan area, so it would make sense he’d perform at one of the city’s biggest music festivals. After Broccoli City announced its 2022 lineup, Wale shared with his Twitter followers that he’s no longer on the bill but it appears things are back on track. Broccoli City, now in its eighth year, has attracted some of the biggest acts in music to its stages. When this year’s lineup was shared, with Ari Lennox and Summer Walker listed as headliners, it turned heads that Wale was also on the bill. However, Folarin shared via his Twitter account he wouldn’t be present at the two-day festival on Tuesday (Feb. 1) “I’m Pullin out this show,...

HitPiece Wanted to Make an NFT for Every Song — Only Its Founders Forgot to Ask Artists First

Over the last couple days, a beta version of a new platform called HitPiece has sparked outrage and confusion throughout the music industry after artists and their teams began finding NFTs of their songs posted on the marketplace without their permission. The NFTs were listed as “available for auction” or as “live” auctions under individual song titles with corresponding album artwork, and while they were characterized as “music NFTs” they did not appear to contain audio. HitPiece’s mission, according to the company’s pitch deck, is to make a “1 of 1 NFT for every song,” allowing “USD and Crypto for payment.” The company launched in December, but it wasn’t until Tuesday that people began to really take notice that it was listing NFTs for artists ranging from XXXTentacion to John Lennon to ...
