Cheslie Kryst, ‘Extra’ Correspondent and Former Miss USA, Dies at 30

Cheslie Kryst, an Extra correspondent and former Miss USA, has died. She was 30. Her family confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday. A cause of death was not provided by them, but the New York Police Department confirmed to THR that it was a death by suicide. Kryst’s body was found at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, on the sidewalk outside the Orion Condominium building, where she was a resident, in Manhattan. “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie,” the statement read. “Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. Katy Perry was the musical guest on last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live. She performed her song “When I’m Gone” with Alesso on a stage filled with giant dancing mushrooms. Perry also performed “Never Really Over” on the Willem Dafoe–hosted episode. Watch both performances below. Perry and Alesso first shared “When I’m Gone” to kick off Perry’s residency at Resorts World Las Vegas. U2’s Bono and the Edge have shared a new acoustic cover of their 1983 single and War album opener “Sunday Bloody Sunday.” It arrives on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the massacre at a protest in Northern Ireland and a defining moment of the Troubles. After Neil Young and Joni Mitchell had their music pulled from Spotify, citing misinformation about COVID-19 being spread on Joe Rogan’s Spotify exclusive podcast, the streaming platform’s CEO Daniel Ek released a statement in response today. LCD Soundsystem Announced for John Mulaney-Hosted SNL

LCD Soundsystem has been announced as the musical guest on the February 26 episode of Saturday Night Live. John Mulaney, a former head writer on the show, is set to host. LCD Soundsystem shared their holiday special on Amazon Prime Video last month, starring Macaulay Culkin, Aparna Nancherla, and Eric Wareheim. Their 20-date residency at Brooklyn Steel in December was cut short as a COVID-19 surged over the holidays.  John Mulaney last hosted SNL in 2020.
