Machine Gun Kelly Shares Stripped-Down Cover of Frank Ocean’s “Swim Good”

Multi-hyphenate artist Colson Baker bka Machine Gun Kelly has released a cover version of Frank Ocean’s 2011 hit song, “Swim Good.” More than 10 years after Ocean’s melodic R&B song landed on music charts, MGK’s recent acoustic cover version gives the song a new sound. The reflective lyrics that focus on navigating a tumultuous relationship, have been stripped down into a rock-soul ballad with Ocean’s notable ad-libs being replaced with beat instrumentation. An accompanying music video was shot in black-and-white, and is set against an open beach scene with rolling waves, depicting Kelly in a side-profile with camera angles panning in-and-out on his face. MGK shared the cover with fans on his Instagram and stated it’s “one of my favorite songs.” Ocean’s original music video – which was...

Jennie Nguyen Fired From ‘The Real Housewives’ Over Anti-Black Texts

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bravo / Getty I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: One does not need to be white to be racist. Now, if white people are reading this and saying, “Well, of course, white people face racism all the time”—calm down, guys, the above statement is about the anti-Blackness of non-Black people of color, not your fragile “all lives matter” feelings.  According to People, Bravo announced Tuesday that Jennie Nguyen “will no longer be a cast member” on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Why has Nguyen been scrapped from the RHOSLC cast? Well, recently resurfaced and since-deleted social media posts allegedly authored by the 44-year-old indicate that she’s just another off-white supremacist who uses Black crime statistics as her own personal racism...

The song, “We The People,” sounds exactly like you’re probably thinking and the requisite shot at Dr. Anthony Fauci is predictable as a right hook from Glass Joe. We really aren’t going to dignify this song further than we need to but if you want a taste of what’s to come, check out what passes for lyrics below. From “We The People”: Wear your mask, take your pills Now a whole generation’s mentally ill (Hey-yeah) man, f*ck Fauci (Hey-yeah) But COVID’s near, it’s coming to town We gotta act quick, shut our borders down Joe Biden does, the media embraces Big Don d...
