UK Band Slaves Change Name to Soft Play

Until now, we’ve not been able to comment on what’s going on with the band, as life changing events have left us on hiatus, just trying to get through each day. There were times over the last few years when we never thought we would ever step foot on a stage together again. However we feel that the time has now come to pick up where we left off. Before we do that though, we want to address something important. When we called our band Slaves, it was intended solely as a reference to the grind of day to day life. As younger men, we responded to criticism of the name from a place of fear and defensiveness. Feeling backed into a corner, our own pride caused us to fight for a name we weren’t even sure we wanted anymore. It felt at times as if our band name had defined us and we were scared of w...

SZA Releases Music Video for “Nobody Gets Me”

SZA stans are rejoicing today because her highly-anticipated sophomore album SOS has finally hit streaming services. And to excite the fans even further, the R&B artist has released a brand new music video for “Nobody Gets Me.” Track 14 is a moody number and tells the story of SZA reflecting on a past lover. The visual is simple and essentially shows her crooning on the top of a building somewhere in New York City as she rocks baggy jeans, a graphic tee, a trucker hat that bears an upside-down smiley face and a New York Jets leather jacket. “How am I supposed to let you go / only like myself when I’m with you / nobody gets me you do,” she sings about a partner that made her feel at home whenever they were around. The entire just-over-three-minute clip is shot entirely in black and whit...

Bronx rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has dropped off his fourth studio LP, Me vs. Myself. A month later, the rapper has returned with 22 tracks across a little over an hour. After opening with “Food for Thought,” Boogie linked with Roddy Ricch for “B.R.O. (Better Ride Out.” Later in the album are two collaborations with Lil Durk and features from G Herbo and H.E.R. Cloverdale Cooks Up Peak-Hour Club Single, “Up All Night”

Cloverdale’s “Up All Night” is the tipping point leading into the peak-hour at the club. The Canadian house music artist has had a memorable year in 2022 with high-profile festival slots at EDC Las Vegas and Nocturnal Wonderland, but while “Up All Night” is similarly tailor-made for losing yourself in neon lights, Cloverdale brings a more intimate energy to the track with the help of BABA NO BABY. Cloverdale shared that upon floating the idea to BABA NO BABY, the two were down to business in the studio the very next day. The producer tips his hat to the underground with driving low end baselines that strategically walk the lane between techno and invigorating bass house. Underpinned by an intricate groove of pumping kicks, crisp hi-hats and high-energy ads-libs, the groove is capped off wi...

Justin Bieber and The Weeknd Sued Over Alleged Bored Ape NFT Scheme: ‘Drastically Inflated Prices’

Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, The Weeknd and dozens of other celebrities are facing a new class action alleging they were secretly paid to “misleadingly” promote NFTs like the Bored Ape Yacht Club, leaving investors with “staggering losses.” In a complaint filed Thursday in Los Angeles federal court, attorneys for a pair of consumers claimed that Bored Ape parent company Yuga Labs Inc. perpetrated a “vast scheme” in which they “discreetly” paid “highly influential celebrities” to pump up the value of the NFTs (non-fungible tokens). “Defendants’ promotional campaign was wildly successful, generating billions of dollars in sales and re-sales,” the lawyers for the plaintiffs wrote. “The manufactured celebrity endorsements and misleading promotions … were able to artificially increase the interes...
