beabadoobee made her way to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform a cut from her latest album, Beatopia. Wearing an oversized jacket and tall white boots, the Filipino-British singer performed seated, joined by an acoustic ensemble consisting of guitar, bass, drums, violin, viola and cello. Singing “the perfect pair,” beabadoobee delivered the soft lyrics with effortless, breathy ease. “If I told you, you know how to / Go and break my heart in two,” she sings in the chorus, surrounded by Christmas lights. “Cause I would anyways / We’d end up like always.” Beatopia, the sophomore effort of the singer-songwriter, dropped in July via the independent British label Dirty Hit. In addition to the hit “the perfect pair,” the 14-track album is also home to the widely-loved single “Sunny...
Absence, it is said, makes the heart grow fonder, and touring musicians ought to know. The travel, the time spent waiting and prepping in the dressing room and the let-down moments after the show is over are all windows of time ripe for gnawing self-reflection and what-ifs. Time apart can indeed change a heart, and Russell Dickerson figured that out roughly a decade ago, when a breakup with Kailey Seymour forced him to confront a gaping hole as he traversed the club circuit as a newly single man. “We had just broken up, and I was looking for anybody,” he remembers. “I was like, ‘I’m going to be out here on the road. Might as well see if I can find a wife out here.’ It didn’t work. But at the time, we were just playing crappy bar after crappy bar. I’m giving it my all, nobody’s showing up, ...

100 gecs gave fans a double dose of excitement with the surprise release of a three-track EP and new album announcement. Over the weekend, the surging hyperpop duo dropped a three-track EP, Snake Eyes, seemingly out of nowhere. While any new music is exciting for fans, they received an extra bonus when the tracklist was revealed to include a collaboration with Skrillex. The first track, “Hey Big Man,” channels Beastie Boys for a chaotic tune that will surely perk up their already high-energy live shows. The second track, “Torture Me,” features Skrillex, which shouldn’t be too surprising since 50 of the 100 gecs, Dylan Brady, joined him (along with Noisia and josh pan) on last year’s “Supersonic (My Existence).” Together, Skrillex and 100...
