Keith Urban is among those paying tribute to the late Fleetwood Mac member Christine McVie, who died Wednesday (Nov. 30) after a short illness. McVie was 79. During a concert in Australia, Urban told the audience, “Today, we lost one of the members of Fleetwood Mac, the incredible Christine McVie, who was amazing. For me growing up, listening to their music, you had three incredible vocalists in that band. You had Lindsey Buckingham, who brought this kind of punk, angular, ethos to the whole thing. You had Stevie Nicks’ voice, which is angelic, otherworldly. Then you had Christine, who for me, is the maternal, soulful heartbeat, vocally.” Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news He performed snippets of the group’s “Say You Love Me” (from their self-tit...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: MEGA / Getty Ye has gone full Nazi, and there will be consequences. Case in point, the artist formerly known as Kanye West has been suspended from Twitter, again—this time for posting a swastika. By now you’ve surely heard about Ye’s Thursday (Dec. 1) appearance on InfoWars with infamous right-wing cretin Alex Jones. Even Jones, who just declared bankruptcy to avoid paying millions to the Sandy Hook families he slandered, tried to steer Ye away from the rampant antisemitism, that included praise for Hitler. So yeah, that didn’t happen. And then, Ye carried his problematic rhetoric over to Twitter, where he posted an image of a swastika inside the Star of David. The pic was promptly deleted, and soon enough, Ye’s account was suspended. Elon Musk himself to...

Yesterday we got our first teaser trailer to Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 and it looks like it’s going to be a tear jerker as it seems like rumors of the deaths of some major characters may prove to be true. Though details about the film’s plot are scarce so far, the trailer does confirm that Volume 3 will partly serve as an origin story to Rocket Raccoon and possibly end up being his swan song as well. Fans also got their first look at Will Poulter’s iteration of classic Marvel...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Taylor Hill / Getty Quentin Miller has had enough of being pigeonholed. The fame artist and ghostwriter has cleared up his involvement on Nas’ King’s Disease II and more. As spotted on Complex, Quentin Miller is back in the headlines. This time his pen is being tied to none other than Nas. This week an interview clip surfaced online where he says he worked with the “Ether” MC. Hip-Hop fans immediately assumed he helped the New York legend craft some lyrics. Naturally, the hearsay got back to Quentin and it seem to hit a very sore spot for the songwriter. He took to Instagram Live to discuss the track. “OK, so apparently this whole Quentin worked with Nas conversation is going a little more viral than what I thought ’cause now people are reaching out ...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Walt Disney / Disney After more than a decade in development, Indiana Jones 5 is finally getting ready to release and Harrison Ford has never looked better… thanks to CGI anyway. Lucas Films dropped the first trailer for their upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and amazingly enough 80-year-old Harrison Ford still looks capable of swinging a whip with the best of them (must be a white people heritage thang). Written and directed by James Mangold (Logan) the latest installment to the Indiana Jones franchise finds Indy coming out of retirement to go on one final crusade set during the Space Race between the Russians and the U.S. in the 1960’s. Though we have no idea what the “Dial of Destiny” is nor what it is capable of, if it got an 80-year-old...

sorrowful soil is a song i wrote from random improvisations .. i kinda thought i was writing another song but then when i edited it i threw away most of the stuff and this is what stood there staring at me for me, sorrowful soil and ancestress are the 2 songs on fossora written for my mother … ancestress is my take on funeral-music but sorrowful soil is written 2 years before and mirrors more that last chapter . at the time i had been working with the fantastic hamrahlid choir and wanted to give them the piece they deserved , and with that intention unknowingly wrote what the conductor þorgerður ingólfsdóttir said was the most difficult piece they ever sang . it has 9 voices, not the usual 4 ( sopran, alt, teno , bass ) which took the choir evenings of a whole summer to rehearse, i a...
I believe the foundation of this music might have been written at the same time as the collaboration I did with St. Vincent a few years ago, but somehow a literal view of the Santa phenomena was what came out. It wasn’t right for Annie [Clark] and me—the story of a fat man in rather odd attire who breaks into people’s homes and leaves mysterious packages. I’d worked with Jherek before and enlisted him to arrange and record the “orchestra,” which I wanted to sound sort of old-school creepy. The old song “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” may have been a reference. Back then, I thought I’d use the song as a means to raise money for a good cause, but to draw attention to this thing I thought it might need a visual, so I storyboarded a video for the song which eventually ended up getting shelved. But maybe...

Grin Machine did a great job paying homage to the game collaboration with AWGE with the fun wacky aesthetics, and shout out to Krash and Hec [Lynas Frans] for the music as always.” “Shittin’ Me” follows A$AP Rocky’s May single “D.M.B.” It’s also one of two...
Storefront Church and Phoebe Bridgers have released a new cover of “Words,” the opening track from Low’s 1994 debut, I Could Live in Hope. It’s in tribute to Low’s Mimi Parker, who died in November at the age of 55. Hear the cover below. Storefront Church is the project of Los Angeles–based artist Lukas Frank. He released his debut album, As We Pass, last year via Sargent House. In a statement about the Low cover, Frank wrote, “In the wake of Mimi’s passing, I’d like to dedicate this to her. Low’s music has been incredibly useful to me; it’s like an antidote to anxiety, with Mimi’s voice at the heart of it—relieving, cathartic, and honest.” Read Pitchfork’s Afterword “Mimi Parker Was Indie Rock’s Guardian Angel.” Content This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
