Her Loss, his win. As has become the norm, a new Drake album’s yields a monster week on Billboard’s R&B/hip-hop charts, extending multiple records already safely in the superstar’s possession and pushing him dangerously closer toward a few that still elude him. Her Loss, a collaborative album with 21 Savage, was released on Nov. 4 via OVO Sound/Republic. The set debuts at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart with 404,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 10, according to Luminate. With the entry, 21 Savage obtains his third (and third consecutive) No. 1 on the list, after I Am > I Was led the list for two weeks in 2019 and Savage Mode II, with Metro Boomin, posted one week on top the following year. Surrounded by newly designed Elton John tour merch mixed with luxury goods from Fendi and Balenciaga at a special Rocket Man-themed pop-up shop at The Webster in the Beverly Center, David Furnish — husband and business partner to the beloved pop star — joked that everyone thinks his house looks just like this Los Angeles shrine to Elton. “We do have a Captain Fantastic pinball machine at our home in Windsor,” he conceded to Billboard, sitting in an alcove at The Webster with that very arcade game as “Philadelphia Freedom” played over the speakers. “But we don’t play Elton John music around the clock in our house.” For the last near-decade, Furnish has been helping Elton plan his retirement from the road, after 50-plus years of touring the world, and this pop-up shop is one of many special ...
SZA has officially announced the title of her highly-anticipated album: S.O.S. Revealing the news in a recent cover story with Billboard, SZA’s sophomore studio effort is scheduled to release some time in December and is described as “the most captivating music she has ever made, her beloved lo-fi beats sharing space with surf rock within the same track, a grunge record and an acoustic guitar-driven ballad coexisting without either sounding out of place.” She admits, however, that she’s “currently stressed” about meeting the deadline, explaining that she now has to deal with a lot of red tape as the release date nears despite having almost complete control of the album’s rollout. “I hate the red tape analytics of dropping anything — it’s so stressful,” SZA said. “I definitely have heard [t...
Less than two months after his dreamy Chasing The Golden Hour, Pt. 4 mixtape, GRiZ is back to ensure the music never stops with a new EP, Bangers[7].Zip. It’s been over two years since his last Bangers.ZIP EP. Back and better than ever, 7 lives up to the hype of its predecessors with three dizzying dubstep tracks. GRiZ’s kicks off the EP with “Skydive,” an anthemic bass record with ProbCause and Chrishira Perrier. Then comes the distorted, heavy-hitting cut “Laser Fire,” followed by the hip-hop and dubstep hybrid “MEGAZORD.” The latter track also features the two longtime collaborators, whose contributions to GRiZ’s wobbly, funk-driven sound are as potent as ever. The Blessed Madonna is back with her first new single in five years, “Serotonin Moonbeams.” Backed by defiant, sassy vocals from Uffie, the track is bursting with disco-house fervor. Its cathartic bridge, “Serotonin got me screaming, ‘love, love, love, love,” lends to a rapturous anthem that celebrates the intrinsic bonds we’re able to create “when serotonal conditions are right.” “We talked about what it was like to fall in love in the Vicks Vapo-rub, candy-soaked raves of the 90s. It’s about ‘cuddle puddles’ and the intense emotional, physical and spiritual connections that can form when serotonal conditions are right,” said The Blessed Madonna in a statement. “Barriers that might exist in a normal dating atmosphere ...

Longtime friends Slynk and Fort Knox Five strive to keep the funk both real and fresh with their latest release. Back in September 2021 they dropped “Keep The Funk Real,” a midtempo masterstroke that blends glitch hop with irresistibly funky grooves. Now they’ve decided to find a suitable remixer to breathe new life into the track, and their mutual admiration for Megan Hamilton made her an obvious choice. Well-versed in all things funk, the Minneapolis-based DJ, producer and vocalist has released music on Westwood, Soul Shake Records and Fort Knox Recordings, among others, over the years. Best known for her signature blend of hypnotic bass and funky riffs, Hamilton has collaborated with Defunk, K+Lab and PINEO & LOEB and toured with the likes of Opiuo to spr...
