Music Companies Must Now Include Salary Ranges on New York Job Postings

A new New York City law requiring employers to disclose salary ranges in job postings has officially gone into effect this week, with music companies hiring in the city mandated to comply. On the first day of the law, a picture of at least one of the major music companies’ salary ranges has come into focus. The day the law went into effect, several companies were criticized for overly-broad salary ranges that effectively subverted the point of the regulation, which was designed to give prospective employees insight into what they could be expected to earn at different companies in the city and address salary discrepancies between men and women and for people of color. The Wall Street Journal, for instance, posted reporting and producing jobs with ranges between $40,000 to $160,000; te...

Report States Adidas Was Done With Ye
In “2-Minute” Phone Call

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jonathan Leibson / Getty Adidas’ move to terminate their turbulent partnership with Ye aka Kanye West was made easier by his antisemitic remarks and ended with a brief phone call, a report reveals. According to a new report, the global athletic brand’s executives in Bavaria, Germany made the decision to cut ties with Ye after an “undramatic” two-minute phone call made to two U.S.-based law firms representing the company. Adidas had been consistently searching for a way to sever their business partnership with the YEEZUS rapper for months. They were hesitant to do so, even with his antisemitic tirades causing a massive backlash for fear of legal issues. “Some of the company’s top executives hesitated because they first wanted to obtain opinions from o...

Consequence Is Upset G.O.O.D. Music Artists Aren’t Defending Kanye West

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: New York Daily News / Getty Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty In the past few weeks we’ve been witnessing the downfall of the artist formerly known as Kanye West (he goes by Ye these days), and while it was completely self-inflicted, Ye’s confidant, Consequence, is wondering why more of his homie’s artists aren’t standing up for their boss. A few days ago Consequence took to his IG page to address the controversy surrounding his former collaborator and friend, Kanye, and in a 12-minute clip called out everyone affiliated with Ye’s label and wondered, “Where is everybody else at?!” After proclaiming his loyalty to Kanye and saying he’d always stand by him regardless of anything, Consequence continued to wonder, “I’m the only person that got a check with Ye? Huh...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Edward Berthelot / Getty Westside Gunn, the visionary mind behind the Griselda Records operation, is coasting on the winds of his continued success with the release of his latest collection of art in 10, closing a chapter of sorts. Westside Gunn kicked off Griselda’s massive and highly influential 10-year run with the release of Hitler Wears Hermes, a play on the Devil Wears Prada name. As some savvy music fans fully realize, Gunn never titled the project to praise Hitler but has acknowledged the title carries a lot of weight and especially so now in the age o...

Streets Say Young M.A Is Pregnant, Twitter Doesn’t Mind Its Business Per Usual

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Prince Williams / Getty The streets are saying that Young M.A is with child and as one can imagine, the reaction to the unconfirmed news has been over the top. We’ve seen some of the zanier and frankly offensive comments coming from the Twitter side of things and, unfortunately, we have to share our views on it all. Young M.A, 30, made waves in the Hip-Hop industry with her brazen lyrical ability and propensity to speak vividly about her sexual orientation on terms that befit her. While she isn’t the only out rapper from the LGBTQ community, Young M.A is certainly one of the more notable artists in that space. On Tuesday (Nov. 1), fans on Twitter began spreading the news that the Brooklyn rapper was pregnant and naturally, the jokes came flying in. ...
