SoundCloud Rebrands Creator Services Platform to “SoundCloud for Artists”

SoundCloud’s creator services platform is operating under a new name: SoundCloud for Artists. The rebrand comes from one of the leading minds in establishing Spotify’s own Spotify for Artists platform. And as the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”   Tracy Chan, SoundCloud’s Senior Vice President of Creator, was previously the former Head of Music at Twitch and served as the Director of Product Management at Spotify before that. This Saturday, Kendrick Lamar will livestream his concert at Paris’ Accor Arena, a show that marks the 10th anniversary of Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The date is part of Lamar’s Big Steppers Tour behind Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Belle and Sebastian have announced a 2023 North American tour. After finishing up dozens of dates in Europe this winter, the indie pop group will kick off the new leg in Mexico on April 24. Kanye West Potentially Facing $250 Million Defamation Lawsuit From George Floyd’s Family

The family of George Floyd is planning to sue Kanye West after the rapper questioned Floyd’s cause of death during a recent appearance on Drink Champs. West suggested that Floyd—who was killed by Derek Chauvin—died due to fentanyl, despite the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office ruling Floyd’s death a homicide and Chauvin being convicted of murder and manslaughter. Roxie Washington will be filing the lawsuit on behalf of her and George Floyd’s minor daughter Gianna. The family will be seeking at least $250 million in damages, according to attorneys from the Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law. Ozuna collects his sixth top 10 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart as his latest full-length, OzuTochi, debuts at No. 5 on the list dated Oct. 22. The set concurrently opens at No. 4 on Latin Rhythm Albums. OzuTochi begins with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 13, according to Luminate. While most of the album’s first-week total derives from streaming-equivalent album units, 500 stem from traditional sales and track-equivalent units combined.
