Today (October 10), Sault have returned with a new song that runs 10 minutes and 10 seconds. It’s called “Angel” and it’s the mysterious band’s first new music since the release of Air in April. The track was produced by Inflo and has contributions from Jack Peñate and Chronixx. Check it out below. Sault began in 2019 with 5 and 7. The next year, they released Untitled (Black Is) and Untitled (Rise). Last year, the group shared Nine, which was available for just 99 days. Also in 2021, Sault made the shortlist for the Mercury Prize. Rex Orange County has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in London, the UK tabloid The Sun reports. The singer-songwriter, who was born Alexander James O’Connor, is accused of assaulting the woman six times between June 1 and 2. The musician allegedly assaulted the woman twice in London’s West End, once in a taxi, and three times at his home in the Notting Hill neighborhood, according to The Sun. When reached by Pitchfork, a representative for the musician said, “Alex is shocked by the allegations which he denies and looks forward to clearing his name in court. CD Baby and Soundrop have both laid off employees, citing “economic conditions” and “uncertain times,” according to a company-wide email written by Downtown’s new chief people officer Love Whelchel on Oct. 5. Whelchel started at Downtown just last month. News of the layoffs was first published by Digital Music News. While the outlet reported that 30 employees were let go from the two companies, a spokesperson for CD Baby and Soundrop tells Billboard this figure is incorrect.
