Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw won’t be taking place this year. Curated by Tyler himself, the music festival brings together alternative hip-hop and R&B acts across a weekend in Los Angeles. ​​ “It’s really not that deep,” Tyler’s manager Chris Clancy told Billboard. “Tyler toured all year and was busy with a number of projects. After a month spent at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit” has scaled the list to overtake the No. 1 spot. The hit track marks the singer’s first No.1 chart-topper. Released as the second single from Lacy’s sophomore album Gemini Rights, the ballad features a funky beat over which the singer croons about not seeing things through his partner’s eyes. “I wish I knew, I wish I knew you wanted me,” Lacy sings in the chorus. California Officially Bans Rap Lyrics From Use In Criminal Cases

Meek Mill, E-40, and others joined the state’s governor to celebrate the signing of the new law. Last Friday (Sept. 30), California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the Decriminalizing Artistic Expression Act into law. The landmark legislation, also known as AB 2799, puts a presumption against using rap lyrics against a defendant in a criminal court case. The exceptions would be if the state could prove that the lyrics were created in close proximity to the time of the crime, contains details of the crime that aren’t publicly available, or bears a high amount of similarity to the crime. James Brown, Godfather of Soul and Radio Station Owner, Among 2022 Radio Hall of Fame ‘Legends of Radio’ Inductees

James Brown was one of the 10 inaugural inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Now, he’s also a member of the Radio Hall of Fame. The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago announced on Tuesday (Oct. 4) that Brown is among 10 “Legends of Radio” inductees into the Radio Hall of Fame for 2022. The award recognizes “the talents and efforts of air personalities, programmers and operators who contributed with greatness to the radio industry and have since passed away.”  Brown is honored as a radio station owner of WJBE in Knoxille, Tenn. He bought the station in the late ’60s, changing its name to WJBE. (The call letters stood for James Brown Enterprises). Brown died in Atlanta on Christmas Day 2005.
