Pophouse Entertainment Acquires Majority Stake In Avicii’s Catalog
Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment has purchased a majority stake in Avicii’s master recording and publishing rights. The assets of Avicii’s catalog were previously held by his family estate, though they still reportedly own 25% of the overall share. The partnership effectively ensures the iconic dance music producer’s family will continue to have a say in how Avicii’s music is promoted and utilized going forward. Avicii is survived by his parents, Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén. LCD Soundsystem have shared a new song titled “New Body Rhumba (From the Film White Noise),” their first new track in five years. Check it out below. James Murphy and the band announced “New Body Rhumba” back in August. They made the song for Noah Baumbach’s new film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s White Noise. “New Body Rhumba” is the first new song from LCD Soundsystem since 2017’s American Dream. M.I.A. has shared the latest single from her forthcoming album MATA. The new song is called “Beep,” and you can give it a listen below. She has also revealed the artwork for her new LP, which does not yet have a release date. Smino and J. Cole have dropped the new song “90 Proof.” It’s the first official single from Smino’s forthcoming album Luv 4 Rent. Take a listen below. Luv 4 Rent, which does not currently have a release date, will be Smino’s third studio album, following 2018’s Noir and 2017’s Blkswn. It’ll also be the St. Louis artist, rapper, writer, and producer’s first project for Motown Records. Smino and J. billy woods—one-half of NYC hip-hop duo Armand Hammer—is back with a new album made with Messiah Musik. Church is out now via Backwoodz Studioz. The 12-song LP includes contributions from Armand Hammer’s Elucid, Bruiser Brigade’s Fat Ray, Akai Solo, and Fielded.
