The War on Drugs have released two new songs as part of a new deluxe album edition of I Don’t Live Here Anymore. “Oceans of Darkness” and “Slow Ghost” are both out now, ahead of the box set’s release this Friday, via Atlantic. Back in 2020, the band debuted an early version of “Oceans of Darkness” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they performed remotely via separate livestreams during the early days of the pandemic. In a statement about the studio version of the song, frontperson Adam Granduciel said: One night in LA, while we were many months into working on what would be I Don’t Live Here Anymore, Dave [Hartley] uncovered a stripped-down demo in my Dropbox called ‘Oceans of Darkness,’ and insisted we try recording it. We were frustrated and exhausted at the time, but we s...
Beck has shared a new cover of Neil Young’s “Old Man,” released to promote the October 2 Sunday Night Football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Aphex Twin and the engineer Dave Griffiths have launched a “sample mashing” app called Samplebrain. The sound design software translates inputted sounds into similar samples, according to the pair. The concept, which has been in the works for some 20 years, arose after Aphex, aka Richard James, “mentioned an idea he had about something like a giant brain that you could feed samples to […] to recreate a new sound you fed it,” according to Griffiths. Aphex summarized the app in a statement through Warp: “What if you could reconstruct source audio from a selection of other mp3’s/audio on your computer? What if you could build a 303 riff from only acapellas or bubbling mud sounds? What if you could sing a silly tune and rebuild it from classical music files? You can do this with Sa...
Dear Friends, I am both sad and proud to announce my decision to cancel the Holified Tour. I am sad because it breaks my heart to disappoint those of you who consistently come out to show love and support me for what I do, those of you who have bought tickets and planned trips to come and see me. When I think of disappointing you all, I feel the disappointment deep in the pit of my stomach as well. I was excited to finally be back with you in person to celebrate and bring the music of this new record to life. I know that without you I would never have been able to continue making music for all of these years, and I am so grateful. But for the past several years we have all been through immense challenges, some physical, some mental, some spiritual, some economic. And yet, as we have begun ...

Spotify is vowing to remove racist, anti-semitic and other hate content from its platform following a new report that says music from a number of white supremacist acts is “prevalent” on the streaming service.
