Anton Fier, drummer for bands including the Feelies, the Lounge Lizards, and the Golden Palominos, has died. Fier’s bandmates in the Feelies confirmed the news, paying tribute to Fier in a statement shared with Pitchfork. He was 66 years old. “Last evening, we received the sad news of Anton’s passing,” the statement reads. “For far too short of time, throughout our own musical journey, we had the pleasure of playing with him. As a musician, Anton held himself to a very high bar, which in turn inspired those around him to be better. We all lost a wonderful musician, a truly great drummer. And peace has found him.” Fier was born on June 20, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio. His interest in punk music brought him to New York in his early twenties, playing drums on the Feelies’ landmark 1980 album Cra...

After SEVENTEEN wrapped the U.S. leg of their Be the Sun world tour, member Jun took no time to release a new solo track that keeps fans hot even as temperatures are cooling down. “Limbo” is the new single from Jun, the Chinese-born K-pop star who is one of the standout performers and dancers in SEVENTEEN, released in both Korean and Chinese. While Jun has previously focused on ballads and acoustic tracks when it comes to solo tracks, “Limbo” delivers his seductive side. The star purrs, “Listen, I’ve been looking for the love/ I wanna hear your voice/ You know what I mean?” over grinding, electro-pop production. The accompanying music video is equally bewitching. From rocking latex gloves and a crop top to giving his best sexy vampire character, Jun’s looks throughout the visual are only o...

BEVERLY HILLS — After years of pandemic postponements, Irving and Shelli Azoff were feted by the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night, with a local who’s-who gala of their family, friends and supporters. Only, Shelli wasn’t there. Mrs. Azoff, Irving’s wife of more than four decades and business partner on a variety of projects, was home sick with COVID-19. And while it was surely disappointing, somehow, it was hardly surprising. In true power couple fashion, the Azoffs brought in about as high-profile substitute as you can get: Kris Jenner, the Kardashian-Jenner family matriarch who has been a longtime friend of the family. (“I’d say she was the best manager if the world if I was at any other event,” said James Corden, who emceed the presentat...

Australian singer-songwriter and producer Sycco has collaborated with Flume and Chrome Sparks. The resulting single, “Ripple,” is about to have you hooked. Maximalist at its heart, “Ripple” is a whimsical electronica concoction swirling with elements of hyperpop and drum and bass. Some of its synths sound straight out of a magic wand. Pillowy chords and pitches make you want to close your eyes and float away, but when the striking sounds of its percussion break through, you find yourself on solid ground. Shining through this sonic interplay of hard and soft, Sycco’s cosmic vocals take front and center—a memorable element that caught Flume’s attention when he was in the studio creating the beat. “I was doing a session in LA wit...

We’ve found the special type of project that can only be described as refreshingly fresh; the types of timeless cuts you’d envision dusted off from the depths of a Bushwick vinyl haunt, labeled “unavailable” when you hunt for them on Shazam. If you don’t already know Brooklyn bedroom producer bad tuner, with his new EP back to my <3, it’s time to get familiar. Released September 23rd via LG105, the EP is an atmospheric ode to sunset-to-sunrise Saturdays, capturing the spirit of an all-night clubbing affair in just four tracks. One song, “oxygen,” was the result of a hunt for vocalists on TikTok. Another, “no peace,” was inspired by Frankie Knuckles, the “Godfather of House Music.” It’s this knowing...
