GRiZ has dropped the first single off his forthcoming Chasing The Golden Hour, Pt. 4 tape. The multi-instrumentalist and electronic music superstar today released “Your Light,” which arrives two years after the release of Chasing The Golden Hour, Pt. 3. While this year has seen a number of dubstep and house music records, including recent collabs with LSDREAM (“Funkonaut“), The Sponges’ (“Volume“) and TVBOO (“Bass Music“), this time around, GRiZ displays a more downtempo, melodic sound. Harnessing GRiZ’s funk roots and minimalist sensibilities, “Your Light” flutters with airy guitar riffs, hazy vocal accents and bright synths. Of course, the track wouldn’t be complete without a classic heady saxophone solo by GRiZ himself. “...
Two Vietnamese men convicted of hosting sex- and drug-fueled parties in a psychiatric hospital room have been sentenced to death by the Hanoi People’s Court, VICE reports. 39-year-old Nguyen Xuan Quy and his accomplice, Nguyen Van Ngoc, reportedly hosted parties out of the former’s room in a psychiatric hospital in Vietnam. Patients and staff members were invited to the parties, where MDMA, ketamine and methamphetamines were distributed and used. Local reports state that Quy had free reign while at the hospital. Investigators found that administrators were allowing him to convert a treatment room into a “rave den” outfitted with strobe lights, DJ decks, large speakers and soundproofing materials. According to VICE, Quy was admitted into the hospital in 2018 and...
PRXZM masticated asteroids really gouda in this livestream. You’ll understand that ridiculous lede after watching a recent video by the dance music production and songwriting duo PRXZM, who recently challenged themselves to write a song using Mad Libs. Using suggestions from their live audience on Twitch, they got to work. They’d only ever done this one other time, when PRXZYM’s Emma Maidenberg was sick with Covid. “I wasn’t my best self,” she said. “And my voice didn’t sound that great.” But she made up for it this time around. Maidenberg started working on the lyrics and writing down seemingly random words that popped into her mind to get the Mad Lib started. “This already sounds like a Mad Lib,” her ba...

Two thirds of the Atlanta rap trio Migos are teaming up for a new album. Earlier today, Quavo and Takeoff revealed the title and release date of their forthcoming LP. It’s called Only Built for Infinity Links, and it arrives October 7 via Quality Control/Motown. Check out the cover art below. While Quavo and Takeoff have not yet revealed a tracklist, the pair issued a string of singles earlier this year, starting with lead single “Hotel Lobby.” They followed that cut with the Birdman-featuring “Big Stunna” as well as “Us Vs. Them,” with Gucci Mane. The title of their joint record is a reference to Raekwon’s 1995 solo work Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Migos’ most recent full-length Culture III arrived last year. The album arrived after each member released their own solo re...
“‘One’ is a song Andy and I wrote to celebrate the vigour of survival as an eco-femme battle cry. We wrote the lyrics together, pouring through our histories. At certain points, especially as kids, we both fought hard to survive. ‘No More Dying’ in a figurative (and literal sense) is proclaimed as a dare and a raging threat to those who seek to crush empowered innocence. Salvia, the vanguard of a younger generation who has fiercely explored modern identity, was the perfect channel for the song and the video. When Tim Walker confirmed that Salvia was open to collaborate, we were thrilled. For Hercules and Love Affair, a project that since the beginning has sought to express uninhibited queer freedom of expression, this video feels like a crowning achievement. And I am so grateful.”
Nosaj Thing—aka Los Angeles producer Jason W. Chung—has announced his fifth studio album. Continua arrives October 27 via LuckyMe. Continua is the follow-up to Chung’s 2017 LP Parallels. His previous LP, Fated, came out in 2015. The new album was partly inspired by paradigm-shifting experiences such as family health-scares and house break-ins, as well as a snapshot by notable hip-hop photographer Eddie Otchere depicting an open road in the West Highla...
At a panel presented with Billboard after the first day of the IFA consumer electronics trade show, Qualcomm general manager James Chapman and musicians Ryan Marrone and Adam Hanson spoke with Billboard deputy editorial director Robert Levine about what the company’s Snapdragon Music technology means for the future of digital sound. For years, Chapman said to an audience of about 60 Qualcomm partners and technology journalists, the goal was getting as much music as possible available at the click of a button – and, more recently, on wireless headphones. Sound was secondary. Now, though, advances in bandwidth and other technologies have made it possible to deliver this music with the kind of sound quality consumers enjoy at home. Snapdragon Sound isn’t a product, Chapman explained, but a te...
Kelly Clarkson is returning for another season of her hit talk show, but she’s not about to bring any drama to daytime TV. In a new interview, the singer opened up about welcoming pal and fellow American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson into the fold. While America’s original Idol is stepping into the spot recently vacated by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she isn’t feeling too much pressure about filling the long-running talk show’s shoes. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “I remember Oprah had that spot forever. And then Ellen came in. And I think what’s helpful for me is that those two women are very different,” she told Variety. “How they did their shows was very different, how they connected with people was different, their humor was different.
