Nevermind Baby Loses Lawsuit Against Nirvana

A lawsuit alleging that the artwork for Nirvana’s Nevermind constitutes child pornography has been dismissed, Billboard reports and documents viewed by Pitchfork confirm. Judge Fernando M. Olguin ruled in U.S. District Court that the case was filed well past the statute of limitations (10 years) and dismissed the case with prejudice. Plaintiff Spencer Elden is barred from re-filing the suit, though he can still submit an appeal. Elden, now 31, was four months old when his father’s friend, the photographer Kirk Weddle, paid $200 to photograph him in a pool for Nevermind’s cover artwork. He has recreated the image several times in the past, and had the word “Nevermind” tattooed on his chest. Them Crooked Vultures—the supergroup of Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones—reunited for their first live set in 12 years tonight at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, an all-star show organized by the Foo Fighters to honor their late drummer Taylor Hawkins. Foo Fighters honored their late drummer Taylor Hawkins with an all-star tribute concert today (September 3) at London’s Wembley Stadium. The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert kicked off at 11:30 a.m. EST and aired live on TV and online. The concert will also be available on-demand via Paramount+ starting September 3, with streaming options available on Pluto TV and MTV on-demand beginning the week of September 5.
