New York rapper and singer Lil Tjay has made his first public statement since he was shot in Edgewater, New Jersey in June, as Stereogum points out. Tjay posted a video to his official Instagram account earlier today, where he stated that he survived “seven shots” sustained in the incident. “I just want to say thanks for the love,” Tjay said in the clip. “Seven shots, it was tough, you know. Most people don’t survive it, but I’m here for a reason. The Puerto Rican rapper and singer will perform via livestream from New York’s Yankee Stadium, rather than as part of the VMA ceremony at New Jersey’s Prudential Center. Offset has filed a lawsuit against Quality Control Music, the record label his group Migos is signed to, in regards to his solo career. In documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, the Father of 4 artist is accusing the label of not honoring the January 2021 deal they made with him over his solo material, where he managed to negotiate the deal with Quality Control Music and “paid handsomely” for his artist rights.
