Lil Tjay Says He Survived “7 Shots” in First Statement Since Hospitalization

New York rapper and singer Lil Tjay has made his first public statement since he was shot in Edgewater, New Jersey in June, as Stereogum points out. Tjay posted a video to his official Instagram account earlier today, where he stated that he survived “seven shots” sustained in the incident. “I just want to say thanks for the love,” Tjay said in the clip. “Seven shots, it was tough, you know. Most people don’t survive it, but I’m here for a reason. New music coming soon, we’re going to come back stronger than ever.” Pitchfork has reached out to Lil Tjay’s representatives for further information. Bad Bunny to Perform at 2022 MTV VMAs

Bad Bunny has been added to the performance lineup of the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. The Puerto Rican rapper and singer will perform via livestream from New York’s Yankee Stadium, rather than as part of the VMA ceremony at New Jersey’s Prudential Center. Other VMA performances from J Balvin, Anitta, Panic! at the Disco, Blackpink, Lizzo, and a duo consisting of Marshmallo and Khalid will take place during the event. Phoebe Bridgers, Snail Mail, Fred Durst to Appear in New Horror Film

Phoebe Bridgers, Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan, and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst will appear in a new horror film from We’re All Going to the World’s Fair director Jane Schoenbrun, as The Hollywood Reporter and IndieWire report. Titled I Saw the TV Glow, the upcoming movie follows two teenagers—played by Justice Smith and Bridgette Lundy-Paine—as they obsess over a scary TV show and begin to question the difference between TV and reality. According to reports, Willie Junior Maxwell II aka Fetty Wap pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances in a Central Islip, New York courtroom on Monday (August 22nd). The charge carries a mandatory prison sentence of five years, but federal sentencing guidelines have the potential to add another two years to that. Offset Sues Quality Control Music for Allegedly Not Honoring Deal Made Regarding His Solo Music

Offset has filed a lawsuit against Quality Control Music, the record label his group Migos is signed to, in regards to his solo career. In documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, the Father of 4 artist is accusing the label of not honoring the January 2021 deal they made with him over his solo material, where he managed to negotiate the deal with Quality Control Music and “paid handsomely” for his artist rights. He adds that the label supposedly tried to bill his latest single “54321,” which was produced by Baby Keem, as their own and called the action “hostile.” Offset is now asking the court to declare that Quality Control Music does not own any material he’s created since January 15, 2021.
