Beyoncé Removes “Milkshake” Interpolation From ‘RENAISSANCE’

Beyoncé has removed the interpolation of Kelis‘ “Milkshake” from the RENAISSANCE track “Energy” after the latter accused her of “theft.” According to Rolling Stone, the version of “Energy” that can be streamed on TIDAL and Apple no longer includes the sample. During a short TIDAL glitch, the only part of the track that was playing was the interpolation’s isolated vocals and the rest of the song was quiet. The removal of “Milkshake” is done just a few days after Kelis publicly called out Beyoncé and the Neptunes’ Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams, stating that the use of “Milkshake” was “theft” as she was not even made aware of the interpolation.  “I just heard the record everyone is saying has my sample. Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival Canceled Due to ‘Open Carry’ Gun Laws

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the decision is linked to the state’s lax gun laws. The organizers of the annual event declined to give a reason for the cancellation. Beyoncé Removes Kelis Interpolation From “Energy” Amid Controversy Over Credits

Upon its original release, Beyoncé’s new album Renaissance included an interpolation of Kelis’ “Milkshake” on “Energy.” Kelis has said she was not informed by Beyoncé and her team that her music was going to be used on the new album. The “Milkshake” interpolation has now been removed from “Energy,” Rolling Stone reports. On the original version of “Energy,” near the song’s end, Beyoncé sang a variation of the “La-la, la-la, la” that Kelis made famous on “Milkshake” (as shown by the TikToker @jarredjermaine). The new season of Beavis & Butt-Head—set to return August 4 to Paramount+—will feature music videos from Tyler the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, Post Malone, Camila Cabello, Cale Dodds, CNCO, and BTS. While the duo traditionally roast music videos (and now TikTok and YouTube videos, as well), the second episode of the new season features Beavis letting it slip that he’s a member of the BTS Army who can name specific favorite members of the group. Beavis and Butt-Head originally ran on MTV from 1993-1997. The show was revived for one season in 2011, and came to Comedy Central in 2020. Drake has shared a new video for his Honestly, Nevermind track “Sticky.” The visual shows Drake out in the woods by a body of water, on stage, and at a booat party.
