Lollapalooza Expands to India in 2023, Marking Festival’s Asia Debut

MUMBAI — Lollapalooza is traveling to India, a price sensitive live music market where the appetite for international music of all genres has grown considerably in the streaming era. The multi-genre festival will be staged in Mumbai on Jan. 28-29, 2023, marking its debut in Asia. BookMyShow, India’s largest ticketing platform, is promoting and co-producing Lollapalooza India, along with global producers Perry Farrell, WME and C3 Presents, which is owned by Live Nation. The festival’s Mumbai installment, which will take place at an as-yet unannounced venue “in the center of the city,” will feature around 45 acts playing 20 hours of music across four stages to an audience of 60,000 fans each day. The Weeknd Announces After Hours–Inspired Haunted Houses

The Weeknd is teaming up with Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights to create two haunted houses inspired by his 2020 album After Hours, as Entertainment Weekly notes. “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare” will open at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood in September. Attendees of a Rhode Island music festival pedaled full speed into the next chapter of music festival-based environmental sustainability. Illiterate Light, an indie duo from Virginia, partnered with Rock The Bike to deliver their vision for a bike-powered stage at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival. The “Bike Stage” marked the first time the technology was implemented in a music festival setting, according to the band’s frontman, Jeff Gorman. The Associated Press reports attendees each took five-minute turns pedaling on the bikes, providing power to the stage from the frontlines.
