Francesca Battistelli scores her sixth No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart as her holiday single “Carolin’” jingles to the top of the Dec. 31-dated tally. Rapper Tory Lanez has been found guilty on all three counts in the closely-watched trial over whether he shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, ending a nearly two-week trial over the July 2020 incident and setting the stage for a potentially lengthy prison sentence. The verdict was handed down by a jury in Los Angeles court on Friday (Dec. 23). Lanez was convicted on all counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm; carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. A jury in Los Angeles on Friday reached a verdict and found Tory Lanez guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during an altercation in 2020. The Canadian rapper pleaded not guilty to assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of an unregistered and loaded firearm and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, but the jury — which consisted of seven women and five men — discussed for one day before convicting him on all three counts. He faces more than 20 years in prison on the charges, which include felony charges of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a concealed gun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner. The trial of Tory Lanez, who had pleaded not guilty, began in December. In the opening arguments, Los Angeles County’s deputy district attorney Alexander Bott claimed that the rapper and singer shot Megan Thee Stallion, and that Kelsey Harris, her former friend and assistant, witnessed the shooting from its lead-up through its immediate aftermath. Ari Lennox has announced that her upcoming age/sex/location tour will be her last. The Washington D.C. artist dropped her sophomore studio album in September through J. Cole’s Dreamville Records.
