The Entire Saw Series is Coming to HBO Max
Do you want to play a stream? Well, you’re in luck. Starting in February, all seven films in the legendary Saw series will land on HBO Max. The streaming service has confirmed that the cult-classic horror franchise is included in the massive list of titles that are arriving on the platform in just a few days. To be clear, that means an extended version of the 2004 flick that started it all, followed by Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), Saw V (2008), Saw VI (2009), and Saw: The Final Chapter (2010). R.I.P. Cloris Leachman, Emmy and Oscar-Winning Actress Dead at 94
Cloris Leachman, one of the most decorated actresses in history, has died at the age of 94. According to a representative, Leachman died Tuesday (January 26th) from natural causes at her home in Encinitas, California. Over the course of her career, Leachman won eight Primetime Emmy Awards, tying her with Julia Louis-Dreyfus for the most all time. She also nabbed an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. Leachman famously played Phyllis Lindstrom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Phyllis. She also starred in several major motion pictures, including Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show and Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein. Animated Game of Thrones Series in the Works at HBO Max
The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros may be getting drawn anew — and we’re not talking about maps. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that an animated Game of Thrones series is being developed for HBO Max. While the dramatic cartoon is only in the very earliest of stages, WarnerMedia is apparently already in talks with writers about the potential series. THR notes the plan is to make the show “similar in tone to HBO’s Emmy-winning flagship” live-action series. The news comes as HBO is increasingly intent on expanding the fantasy world created by George R.R. Martin. Giant Eddie Van Halen Mural Unveiled Outside Hollywood Guitar Center
A large mural depicting the iconic Eddie Van Halen was unveiled at the Hollywood Guitar Center on the Sunset Strip on Tuesday, in commemoration of what would’ve been the late guitarist’s 66th birthday (January 26th). The artwork was created by local muralist Robert Vargas. The Van Halen guitarist died on October 6th, with countless tributes coming from his musical peers in the ensuing weeks. The new mural now immortalizes the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer in painted form, with Vargas’ artwork taking up an entire outer wall at the back entrance of Guitar Center’s flagship Hollywood store. Disney’s Jungle Cruise Ride Will Remove “Negative Depictions” of Native Peoples
Another round of changes are coming to both of America’s Disney parks. The iconic Jungle Cruise rides at Disneyland and Disney World will be modified to remove what the company calls “negative depictions” of native peoples. According to a new post on the Disney Parks Blog, the riverboat attraction that first opened at Disneyland in 1955 and was replicated at Disney World in 1971 will no longer feature dated scenes of people of color dressed in generic jungle attire. Instead, the ride will follow an actual storyline narrated by its beloved skippers, and the scenery will contain more animals and less offensive human depictions.
