Tonight, our June Artist of the Month Becca Mancari is taking part in the 615 Pride livestream benefit for Nashville Launch Pad. The concert event is set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT, and you can watch it over at the Consequence of Sound Facebook page. Joining Mancari will be fellow Nashville residents The Blam Blams, Lord Goldie, and Kelly Hoppenjans. It’s all taking place at Helping Our Music Evolve (HOME), a non-profit community space where local musicians can record, rehearse, create content, and more. Justin Bieber Sues Sexual Assault Accusers for $20 Million
Earlier this week, two social media users accused Justin Bieber of sexual assault. Bieber defended himself, claiming that the stories were “factually impossible.” Now, according to TMZ, he’s suing for $20 million in damages — $10 million for each story — claiming defamation. The two alleged victims go by “Danielle” and “Kadi” online. Danielle claims that Bieber raped her on March 9th, 2014, in his room at the Four Seasons Hotel. In response, Bieber has produced a receipt for an Airbnb on that night, where he claims to have stayed with his then-girlfriend Selena Gomez. The pop star says that Danielle invented this story based on public reports that he ate at the Four Seasons restaurant the next day, March 10th. Fans Vote “Master of Puppets” Best Metallica Song in Band-Endorsed Poll
Metallica fans have spoken, and they’ve declared “Master of Puppets” as the thrash legends’ greatest song in an official, band-endorsed poll. The poll pit songs against one another in a March Madness style bracket, with the initial 64 tracks selected by a combination of Spotify plays and the number of times each was performed live. Metallica shared the contest round by round on their social media pages, calling it “Some Kind of Bracket”. “Master of Puppets” beat out “One” in the championship round of the bracket. PJ Harvey Announces Vinyl Reissue of 1993’s Rid of Me
PJ Harvey has announced the next installment in her year-long vinyl reissue campaign. On August 21st, she will put out her sophomore album, Rid of Me, on vinyl for the first time since its initial release in 1993. Harvey is also set to reissue its accompanying 4-Track Demos effort that same day. The follow-up to her Dry debut — which is also due for a reissue next month — the original Rid of Me was produced by renowned studio wizard Steve Albini and boasted fan favorites like “50ft Queenie” and “Man-Size”. Compared to its predecessor, the album was known for its more raw and edgy sound. Beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, Depeche Mode will stream their new concert film LiVE SPiRiTS in its entirety for free on YouTube. Watch it below. LiVE SPiRiTS captures Depeche Mode’s 2018 concert in Berlin, Germany as part of their “Global Spirit Tour”. The film is also being packaged alongside the group’s new documentary, Depeche Mode: SPiRiTS in the Forest, which will be available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning tomorrow (June 25th). There’s not much as of press time, though the studio is currently in talks with Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski to helm the picture. A search for writers is underway. Scrubs Blackface Episodes Pulled from Hulu at Creator’s Request
Scrubs has some literal scrubbing to do. As Variety reports, show creator Bill Lawrence and ABC themselves are pulling multiple episodes featuring characters in blackface from Hulu. There are three episodes of Scrubs in total with various characters in blackface: “My Fifteen Seconds” (season 3, episode 7), “My Jiggly Ball” (season 5, episode 4), and “My Chopped Liver” (season 5, episode 17). In one of them, Zach Braff, who plays the show’s lead character, wears blackface at a party. In another, Sarah Chalke’s character is in blackface during a dream sequence.
