Alejandro Jodorowsky Announces New Film Psychomagic, a Healing Art

Icon of surreal cinema Alejandro Jodorowsky will premiere his new film Psychomagic, a Healing Art exclusively through Alamo on Demand. The new documentary, out August 7th, will be preceded by a five-film retrospective, which will stream beginning on August 1st. As if that weren’t enough, a deluxe box set called The Alejandro Jodorowsky: 4K Restoration Collection will be available for purchase on August 21st. Dead Cross (Mike Patton, Dave Lombardo) Cover Black Flag’s “Rise Above” in Solidarity with Black Lives Matter: Stream

The hardcore supergroup Dead Cross, featuring living legends Mike Patton on vocals and Dave Lombardo on drums, have covered the Black Flag classic “Rise Above” in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) and Lombardo (Misfits, ex-Slayer) are joined by Dead Cross bandmates Michael Crain (guitar) and Justin Pearson (bass) on the socially distant performance. The song is preceded by an audio recording of a resident’s profanity-laced tirade against the LAPD as he called in to an actual police commission meeting on Zoom. Lady Antebellum’s New Name, Lady A, Rips Off a Black Blues Singer

Lady A (aka Anita White), via YouTube, and Lady A (fka Lady Antebellum), via Instagram Yesterday, Grammy-winning country trio Lady Antebellum announced that they were changing their name to Lady A. They intended for the rebranding to distance themselves from the so-called Antebellum South, which is the period in the US before the Civil War ended slavery. But it turns out that black blues singer Anita White has been performing under the name Lady A for more than twenty years. GWAR Drummer Visits Defaced Robert E. Lee Statue, Exclaims “F**k That Guy”: Watch

A petition to replace a statue of Robert E. Lee in Richmond, Virginia, with one of late GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus has now racked up more than 30,000 signatures. Today (June 12th), drummer JiZMak Da Gusha paid a visit to the statue of the Confederate general, urging onlookers to add their names to the cause. In a video just posted to GWAR’s YouTube page, JiZMak Da Gusha can be seen approaching the crowd at the now-defaced Robert E. Lee statue, which has been completely tagged with graffiti. The Academy Returns to 10 Best Picture Nominees, Sets Inclusion Requirements

The Oscars are making some much-needed changes. On Thursday, the board of governors behind the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences met to discuss the next phase of their ensuing equity and inclusion initiative, which began in 2015 following the much-publicized #OscarsSoWhite controversy. Today, they’ve announced Academy Aperture 2025, a renewed initiative that involves a number of new protocols and adjustments. The most integral of them all is a ruling that pairs Oscar eligibility to representation and inclusion standards, the likes of which will be developed and implemented by a new task force. Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee has revealed that he’s playing drums on a new Post Malone track, and that the song itself is called “Tommy Lee”. In an interview with SiriusXM, Lee spilled the beans on the track, saying, “I’m playing drums on this Post Malone song that’s coming up – and if you can believe it, the song is called ‘Tommy Lee’.” He went on to say, “It’s killer. Modern thrash-metal masters Power Trip just dropped a surprise on fans, releasing the full concert album Live In Seattle 05.28.2018. Power Trip have risen up the metal ranks thanks in large part to their dynamic high-energy live shows. The new album captures the band’s May 28th, 2018 gig at Seattle’s Neumos club, where they played during their tour with Sheer Mag, Red Death, and Fury. The 11-song set has been mixed and mastered by the band’s front of house engineer, Zachary Rippy. Bob Dylan Reveals Rough and Rowdy Ways Tracklist

Bob Dylan has unveiled the track list for his forthcoming new studio album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, which due out June 19th via Columbia Records. The great bard revealed all 10 tracks in a folksy video on his Instagram account. As expected, the tracklist album features previously released singles: “False Prophet”, “I Contain Multitudes”, and, yes, the 17-minute closer “Murder Most Foul”. As previously reported, the album marks his first release of entirely new material in eight years (specifically, 2012’s Tempest). Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba Gets into Motorcycle Accident, Supports BLM from Hospital Bed

Never doubt the conviction of Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba. On Thursday evening, the singer-songwriter shared a message on Twitter, reporting that he’s recovering from a nasty motorcycle accident earlier this month, complete with a photo from the hospital room. However, that did not stop him from showing his support for the Black Lives Matter movement. “Hi friends on June 6th I was in a motorcycle accident,” Carrabba wrote. “My injuries were severe, but not life threatening. I owe the amazing doctors, nurses and medical team treating me my endless gratitude.
