This year marks the 25th anniversary of Electr-O-Pura, the seminal seventh album from indie favorites Yo La Tengo. To honor the occasion, the band will reissue the record on double-LP for the first time this September, offering “the highest quality of audio the album has had on vinyl to date.” They’ve also unearthed a high quality version of their “Tom Courtenay” music video. At this point, I’d be cautious to take news coming out about any cinematic Superman with a grain of salt, but here’s the latest: Henry Cavill is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as the Man of Steel in future DC Extended Universe films. Deadline broke the story, noting that “sources with knowledge” of the situation say Warner Bros. is trying to bring Cavill back for multiple DC movies. However, one of those is not a standalone sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel. The Iranian-Dutch artist Sevdaliza has shared her new song, “Joanna”. The haunting single comes from an unnamed album, due out later this summer. For fans of Sevdaliza’s 2017 debut album, ISON, “Joanna” will sound stripped-down, even bare. ISON weaved together R&B drums and genre-bending synthesizers into rich sonic tapestries. In contrast, the backing track of “Joanna” relies on simplicity.
