Billie Eilish fans already had her forthcoming documentary to look forward to, but now they’re also being graced with something tangible. The Grammy-dominating pop artist has announced a new photo book that’s filled with never-before-seen images that were curated by Eilish herself. Simply titled BILLIE EILISH, the book features hundreds of photos that span Eilish’s entire life thus far, from her humble childhood beginnings to touring stadiums worldwide. On the same day the book hits shelves in May of this year, Hachette will release a standalone audiobook that featur...

The Kings of Quarantine — a collective spearheaded by Slaves on Dope members Jason Rockman and Kevin Jardine along with Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher — are back with an all-star cover of the Jane’s Addiction classic “Mountain Song”. This time around, they’re joined by members of Limp Bizkit, 311, Filter, Veruca Salt, The Used, and In Flames. Kelliher and Jardine are joined on guitar by Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland, while vocals are handled by Rockman, Veruca Salt’s Louise Post, Filter’s Richard Patrick, and The Used’s Bert McCracken. The rhythm section is made up of 311’s P-Nut on bass and In Flames’ Tanner Wayne on drums. The singers all do an admirable job on the challenging tune, as “Mountain Song” is one of Perry Farrell’s finest vocal moments in Jane’s Addiction. McCracken’s turn is e...

Indie Supergroup Speed Stick Unveil New Song “Protect Your Magic”: Stream

Speed Stick, the indie rock supergroup comprised of Polvo’s Ash Bowie, Bat Fangs’ Laura King, The Love Language’s Thomas Simpson, and The Paul Swest’s Charles Chace, have dropped the new song “Protect Your Magic”. It’s the opening track of their debut album, Volume One, which arrives later this month via Don Giovanni Records. The new single is an instrumental scorcher. “Protect Your Magic” marries Bowie’s sticky guitar riffs with Chace’s free jazz playfulness. Meanwhile the violent, thunderous drum breaks showcase the kind of bonkers percussion that’s only possible with two drummers of King’s and Simpson’s quality caliber. “Protect Your Magic” comes with a cracked music video directed by King. Using a color palette stocked with pinks and greens, she shows odd landscapes, a c...

Brian May is Selling a Badger-Scented Perfume

Queen guitarist, astrophysicist, and friend to all animals, Brian May has been fighting to protect badgers for more than a decade now. The small omnivores are often slaughtered in the UK to reduce the spreading of bovine tuberculosis. For his latest campaign to save the creatures, May has released a new perfume line that’s not only dedicated to badgers, it actually smells like them, too. The aromatic product is called Save Me, which also happens to be the name of a 1980 Queen single penned by May. Its product page lists fragrance notes like pink pepper, jasmine, sandalwood, and musk, but according to the nose of one reporter from The Sun (via Stereogum), the combination of earthy tones results in “a hint of clean badger fur.” Yum. May hasn’t outright described his perfume as badg...

Lana Del Rey on Trump’s Presidency: “As Bad as It Was, It Really Needed to Happen”

In an attempt to circumvent a fuss over the cover to her new album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, Lana Del Rey really wants you to know she has POC friends. Unfortunately, she probably stirred more controversy than she sought to prevent, as no one was really questioning that the cover didn’t have non-white people in it (because it, uh, is a photo and we can see that there are). Now, in an interview with BBC Radio 1, she’s further complicated matters — and brought her opinions on the Trump insurrection into things. When revealing her album cover, Del Rey posted a lengthy comment that was the pretentious version of “I have black friends;” “My best friends are rappers my boyfriends have been rappers,” is an actual sentence she wrote. Speaking live with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, LDR argued...

Thankfully, for those of us still wanting eccentric covers of our favorite rock songs, the couple have continued the series into 2021. As Fripp plays the iconic “Enter Sandman” riff on guitar, Toyah rides the bike, writhing around as she sings and acts out the song’s lyrics. This time around, it’s not so much the performance as it is Toyah’s revealing choice of apparel that has garnered the most comments on YouTube. In just one day, the clip has more than a half million views. “Enter Sandman” isn’t Robert and Toyah...
