Pearl Jam to Host Virtual Fundraiser for Georgia Senate Runoff Election

In the lead-up to the 2020 Elections, Pearl Jam launched a get-out-the-vote campaign focused on mail-in voting. (Frontman Eddie Vedder even created an Instagram account just to promote it!) Although Joe Biden has successfully walked away with a presidential win, the rock band’s job isn’t quite done yet. Ahead of Georgia’s senate runoff election next month, Pearl Jam will host a special virtual fundraiser alongside Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda. The event supports organizations that have tirelessly worked to boost voter engagement. According to a press statement, Pearl Jam and Miranda will hold “a conversation about their artistic inspirations and advocacy.” Like Pearl Jam, Miranda has used his massive platform to condemn Trump and stress the importance of voting. “Georgia came through f...

Iggy Pop Shares French Language Cover of Elvis Costello’s “No Flag”: Stream

Back in October, Elvis Costello released his 31st album Hey Clockface, which included a song called “No Flag” that was partly inspired by Iggy Pop. Today, Pop has returned the favor by releasing a cover of the tune that’s sung almost entirely in French. In a Rolling Stone conversation between the two rock legends, Costello expressed his surprise that nobody picked up on “No Flag” being a nod to Pop’s classic track “No Fun”. “[The title] should have been a clue right away,” Costello told Pop. “It shared one word and one letter with a famous song of yours [“No Fun”], but nobody spotted where it was drawing from because nobody expects me to take a cue from you.” To drive the connection home, Costello decided to enlist the Godfather of Punk to put his own spin on the track ...

Run the Jewels Team with Royal Blood for “The Ground Below (Royal Jewels Mix)”: Stream

Rap royalty Run the Jewels have linked up with the rockers of Royal Blood for the new remix “The Ground Below (Royal Jewels Mix)”. “The Ground Below” is the ninth track on RTJ4,  and it was already built around crunchy guitars that came courtesy of Gang of Four’s “Ether”.  But the original mix kept the strings in the background, the better to accent those thumping drums. Now, the “Royal Jewels Mix” flips that script, easing off the percussion and placing a more muscular guitar front-and-center. RB vocalist Mike Kerr sings the refrain “Your love never meant much to me!” and provides some heavenly “Oohs!” Check out “The Ground Below (Royal Jewels Mix)” below. RTJ4 is one of our favorite albums of 2020, and the Jewels aren’t resting on their laurels. Last month, Killer Mike and...

Drake Selling Scented Candles That Smell Like Drake

The only thing Drake loves more than himself is knowing how much more he’s loved by other people. Perhaps that’s why the Toronto rapper has created a new scented candle that “actually smells like Drake,” so fans can cozy up to his essence in the comfort of their own homes. Drake began teasing his new candle line, Better World Fragrance House, in June by mailing the fragrances to a bunch of his friends, including Kehlani, Steph Curry, and Toronto Raptors players Norm Powell, Fred Van Fleet, and Kyle Lowry. In turn, the celebs all shared pictures of the wicked wonders on social media. “Okayyyyyy thank you @champagnepapi,” wrote Kehlani alongside a photo of a candle inscribed with her name. The official Better World Fragrance House line is set to officially launch “this holiday season,” but t...

Pocahonta Voice Actress Irene Bedard Arrested Twice in Three Days

Actress Irene Bedard, best known for voicing Pocahontas in the classic 1995 Disney film, was arrested twice in the span of three days. According to TMZ, police responded to a possible domestic violence call last Friday at Bedard’s ex-husband’s home in Ohio. Bedard was reportedly found with a belt in her hand. “Look, they sent the white man to come get me!” the 53-year-old Native American actress said of the arriving Beavercreek officers, per TMZ. Her ex-husband claimed a drunken Bedard kicked him and screamed at their teenage son. The incident resulted in Bedard being booked for domestic violence, assault, and resisting arrest. Not long after, Bedard was arrested again for allegedly harassing a front desk employee at a hotel. Authorities booked her for disorderly conduct. Since her br...

Peter Jackson Remastered The Lord of the Rings Trilogy in 4K

Peter Jackson has remastered both The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy in 4K. According to the director, all six movies were lacking visual consistency, so he revisited both the theatrical and extended versions to give them the 4K Ultra HD visuals and surround-sound Dolby audio they deserve in 2020. Do these movies really need some touching up barely two decades later? It’s hard to believe so considering they repeatedly swept the Academy Awards for cinematography, visual effects, makeup, and more. And yet, considering his Lord of the Rings adaptations have maintained their lore over the years and technology makes visual adjustments like these rather easy, Jackson’s decision to do so also makes complete sense. In a behind-the-feature included on the box sets, Jackson re...

Third Monolith Appears in California; Alien Invasion or Insufferable PR Stunt Imminent

Things are about to get extremely wild or unbelievably disappointing. First, on November 23rd, a strange metal monolith was discovered in the Utah desert before mysteriously disappearing a week later. Soon after, a nearly identical three-sided structure was found in Romania, and this, too, soon vanished. Now, a third monolith has materialized in California, which means it’s either just about time to welcome our new interstellar overlords, or the whole world is going to roll their eyes in unison when whoever is behind them reveals what they want us to buy. As The Atascadero News reports, this latest shiny sculpture was spotted the morning of Wednesday, December 2nd, perched atop Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California. Like the others, it stands between nine and 12 feet tall, and ...

COVID-Exorcising Televangelist Goes Heavy Metal in Viral Video: Watch

“Judgement on COVID-19 goes HEAVY METAL [Kenneth Copeland Remix] [I Demand]”, via YouTube Fire-and-brimstone televangelist Kenneth Copeland is unlikely to enter the dark embrace of heavy metal anytime soon, but one YouTube guitarist has made a valid argument for the Texas pastor’s prospects as a metal frontman. Andres Antunes took Copeland’s recent COVID-19 “exorcism” and laid down some riffs under it, creating one of the most chilling and absurd mashups since Metal Trump. Titled “Judgement on COVID-19 goes HEAVY METAL [Kenneth Copeland Remix] [I Demand]”, Antunes’ video is going viral, having already approached 500,000 views. Copeland’s commanding sermons are terrifying in their own right — especially the COVID one — making Antunes’ decision to combine them with metal riffs all the ...
