FX head John Landgraf has addressed the possibility of The Bear returning for a fifth season following its record-breaking 23 Emmy nominations.In an interview with Variety, the chairman explained that Season 5 will be dependent on creator and showrunner Chris Storer. "These decisions are really creative decisions," he stated, although he personally is hoping that Storer "has more than one more season of story to tell." He continued, "But not to the extent that if there was one great season or three mediocre ones, I’d rather have one great one. The 2024 Emmy Award nominees have been revealed. The nominations include series already popular with the Television Academy while some newcomers enter the race. The Bear, which swept the Emmys last year, reached a major milestone as the series surpassed 30 Rock to become the most-nominated comedy series in a single year with 23 nominations. Other notable series this year include Shogun which received 25 nominations (the most for a drama program this season), Only Murders in the Building which received 21, True Detective: Night County which received 19 and The Crown which received 18 for its final season. Disney+ is supposedly developing a new "live channel" feature for its streaming service, similar to that of the pre-streaming era.The Wall Street Journal reports that the "pop-up" feature is primarily for subscribers who "don’t have the time or energy to scroll through viewing options" that Disney+ offers. Duffer Brothers are already gearing up for a new Netflix project. Still a year out from the release of the final season of Stranger Things, the new horror series on Netflix has been greenlit. The series is from Haley Z. Boston and titled Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Ice Cube and his production company Cube Vision are officially expanding their partnership with Paramount Global. The multi-hyphenate business mogul has signed a first-look TV deal with the company. In the past, Ice Cube has worked alongside Paramount for various projects. He has previously partnered with the studio for Cube Vision's Big3 basketball league that airs on CBS as well as an unscripted series titled Hip Hop Squares for VH1. Neon has released the trailer for Anora, the Palme d'Or winner at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.Helmed by Sean Baker, the comedy-drama stars Mikey Madison and Mark Eidelstein as Anora/Ani, a stripper, and Ivan "Vanya" Zakharov, the son of a Russian oligarch.
